Any chance finding an A440-A442 transmission manual? I haven't been able to find anything mysel after spending hours scouring the net for it. I intend to look some more when I take my vacation in a couple of days and have access to high speed to be able to look deeper and faster.
Keep up the good work, you are rendering an invaluable service!

That's the absolutely evil one to find. I've had quite a few goes at finding that one, and so far, absolutely zilch. The only thing I did find was some form of basic exploded diagram, if I remember correctly. I think I posted that in this thread somewhere, or in the thread in the 70 series forum.

The torrent system is in place now. Going to be adding the torrent files over the next day or two, so all files over approx. 1 meg in size will have this little icon appear next to the normal download link when the torrent file is available for that download:
Click on that icon and you'll be prompted to save/open the torrent.
If anybody notices any quirks or anything, btw, if you could give me a shout it would be greatly appreciated. Tested everything as much as possible before putting this new system on the site, (and sorted a couple of unbeknown quirks after that too), but just incase something else pops up on the gremlin front, give me a shout.
Btw, the longer someone can seed after downloading, the better. The server itself is providing a seed for all the files, but every bit of help on the seeding front would be appreciated.

These are backup copies of my paper manuals. I don't have RM188E for the A440 but RM314E & its suppliment covers the A442F.
RM172E - 1PZ, 1HZ, 1HD-T ENGINE REPAIR MANUAL is available from
www.mudtoys.com/manuals/RM172E.pdf (31MB)
RM184E - REPAIR MANUAL FOR CHASSIS & BODY is available from
www.mudtoys.com/manuals/RM184E.pdf (121MB)
RM314E - A442F AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REPAIR MANUAL (Aug 1992) is
available from www.mudtoys.com/manuals/RM314E.pdf (16MB)
RM314E SUPPLEMENT (Jan 1995) is available from
www.mudtoys.com/manuals/RM314E-1995-Supplement.pdf (3MB)
RM315E - REPAIR MANUAL SUPPLEMENT FOR CHASSIS & BODY (Aug 1992), minus 70
series EWD's, is available from www.mudtoys.com/manuals/RM315E.pdf (70MB)
RM437E - 1HD-FT ENGINE REPAIR MANUAL (Jan 1995), is available from
www.mudtoys.com/manuals/RM437E.pdf (36MB)
I have a few others I've yet to get round to scanning, a couple of 1HD-FT updates, a couple of chassis updates and some EWD's.

Wildsmith, don't suppose you have a supplement for RM132E, do you? Looking for a supplement to the B series repair manual that would cover the 3BII engine, found in some cruisers from late '88 to early '90.

You are an absolute star sir. Trying to find that A44* info has been my bane for months.
Would it be okay if I added the ones I'm missing from those above to the downloads site too?
Thanks ever so much for scanning and sharing those, btw.
Cheers.

Feel free. The A442F FSM has traveled a bit, I got it from a second hand book seller in Australia.

Have just finished downloading the 2007 EPC
The 2007_toyota_epc_install.zip is empty… so how do we install the disk??
Do we just load them in the old 2004 EPC??

Just checked it from this end, (did a fresh download just incase), and it appears fine. Are you sure it's not just Windoze which is hiding the files? One is a DLL file, (no idea what that's for, but left it in there just incase), and the other file should be an iso image.

I believe that method should work too, though don't take that as gospel.

Starting in slight babble mode first, it's amazing how much attention one pays to that word once it's brought to their attention. Seems there are only a few over our way who use it in general too.
Just wanting to ask, btw, if it would be preferable for me to add the RM numbers to the download descriptions for the Toyota manuals, where applicable? Would it possibly make finding the manual one is after any easier?
Also, any opinions on the torrent system? Has anyone downloaded via that method? If so, does everything work as expected, and does it seem to be coping/working better than the ftp system?

I used torrent to get the EPC and it seemed to work well. The FSM's often refer to other FSM's by number so that could be useful.
I noticed the other day we've got a FSM download service from Toyota in Europe similar to that mentioned elsewhere on mud for the USA.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for an EXCELLENT PDF conversion. Most of the text IS text instead of simply pictures like one can see in other 'photocopy' manuals, which contributes to its very compact small download size. Nevertheless, the pictures are very clear. Kudos on the OCR and for a job VERY WELL DONE!!!

I've updated them now with any manual PN's I could find, so it should make life a little easier.
I've also added a reference id under each download too, so if anyone does notice a description that's incorrect, or knows the correct PN that isn't already mentioned for a specific manual, just let me know the ref id for that download and I'll get it revised/updated.
Plus, I've added a direct link to the category for each manual listed when you do a search, so that you can go to the respective category for each manual displayed in the results. That was a complete bugbear of mine, the lack of a category link, so I finally decided to get it sorted. Should be a bit less arsey to navigate now, hopefully.

Matt,
Snailtrail and I are working on getting the 14B and 15B FSM scanned to PDF. (His manuals, my scanning) The plan is that once scanned I'll send you a copy of the file for the library. Any suggestions on scanning resolution that seems best. Cheers.

Cheers. You're a star. If I remember correctly, (bearing in mind that it has been an awfully long time since I last did any scanning), I believe the best resolution for quality/size ratio is around 300 to 600 dpi. Anything above that tends to lead to bloated filesizes for little, if any, visible improvement. I'll double check and see what info I can dig out though, just to be on the safe side. Thanks again.

BJ74 euro manual?
Any of you European guys have access to a BJ74 manual? I'd even settle for just the wiring diagram. There might be a Japanese version as well that would do in a pinch.

Bearing in mind that I'm definitely no expert where LC's are concerned, from what I can gather from this thread:
http://forum.ih8mud.com/70-series-te...r-manuals.html
the manuals you need are already up there, (exempting the RM132E manual). I may be completely incorrect though.

Dug this link out. The top section of this page, (ignoring the LaTex stuff, that's just a conversion software), seems to have some useful suggestions. scan-latex-pdf-HOWTO.txt.html
[offtopic moment]: Anyone know what's happening with the Birfield site? It's still showing no signs of life over there, from what I can tell.

Yeah, the 84-90 chassis manual is missing the BJ74 info. It has BJ70 info and that mostly will get you by but I'm interested in the engine control systems that are not in the 13BT manual. Specifically I want to know what the circuitry that controls the VSV that closes the intake shutter looks like. There is some voodoo that shuts down the engine at 4000 RPM under light boost or as low as 3000RPM under heavy boost. This can be troubling if you are half way through a deep mudhole or freeway onramp. If I disconnect the vacuum hose to the shutter, it will happily do 4150RPM at 20 lbs of boost. I'd like to be able to do this and shut off the engine with the key.

Cheers for that clarification. I wasn't sure what the differences were. I'll add the 74 to the list of things to look for.
