It seems thats a common problem, many posts on here about building a catch can to condense the vapor so you don't get drips.

I was in the process of doing so too when I realized that my oil spots weren't from the pipe itself; they were from the cover it attaches to and its shitty cork gasket.

I used a Mann Hummel ProVent 200 on my Jetta TDI to catch the crankcase vapors before they make it to the intercooler. Maybe a ProVent would be the perfect solution for this problem too? Provent on a TDI

The vehicle matches the ebay listing, turbo and all. The turbo kit is from ATS in NZ. It looks to be a nice setup. However, there's no wastegate. No boost gauge either. I think I'll install one.

No waste gate?, no wonder why you have alot of blow by from the crank case vent. Get a boost gage and report back. Well if you had to choose from pyro to boost, go with a pyro meter, if you can afford both go ahead. Good investement in the long run for your engine.

I'll plan to install both.

I changed the fuel filter today. I filled the new one with Seafoam before installing it. I ran it for 30 minutes and let it cool down. It appears to be much easier to start now. Only time will tell.

I ordered a diesel compression tester this evening. The blowby is pretty serious. If I put my hand at the crank vent tube I can feel very strong puffs of vapor. It's not as strong as an exhaust but it's fairly strong. I did read the other thread and there's a few good pointers on diagnosing compression problems.
