Is it OK to run Biodiesel in a 2H?

Hi all.
So my FJ60 is now an HJ 60 with a two tank waste vegetable oil system. Now I am wondering if it is okay to run biodiesel in there too? I understand that bioD will eat away at rubber parts of the fuel system, and that they need to be replaced with Viton. Fuel lines seem pretty straightforward, but I am wondering what sort of rubber parts there are in the IP and other places that could be affected. I would be pretty bummed if I killed my new toy, just by trying to the right thing. Anyone with experience/thoughts about this?

Yes, been doing it over a year, B100. Welcome, greaser.

I did have to replace my fuel pump diaphragm (which is leather -- odd, I know) and gasket. No other ful line issues but my "rubber" fuel lines are surely not 25 years old, so unlikely they're made of the old stuff that is vulnerable.

Worst case scenario (with biodiesel): you'll slowly (over mnany months) notice the lines slightly swell, sweat and get gummy. It's not like one day, BANG, and you're stranded (or hurt the truck).

Use the search function, it is ytour friend. Try "viton", "B100", "biodiesel". You'll eventually stumble into a thread with the viton parts supplier, etc.

Biodiesel blends of 20% (B20) or less should not cause any issues with your fuel lines or seals. Over time, the higher concentrations may.

I've run 100% biodiesel for 5 years in my 1980 BJ40. She loves it. I did have to replace the fuel line after about a year of use, it cost me about $30. Never had to change the fuel filter apart from normal maintenance. Runs just a bit quieter, with just a bit less power, a person may not even notice. When it gets below 32F I just stop driving, although I was forced to drive in 17F once and didn't have any issues, I wouldn't recommend it. Below 32F you should either blend to a max of B50, put in an anti-gel approved for biodiesel, or install tank and in-line fuel heaters.

Running B99 is what allowed me to get my truck to pass emissions here in Warshington state.
