3B questions

what is the best air filter for my 3B for performance and filtering on the market? Does Volant make one that fits? Also, does anyone know what HP gains come from headers on a 3B and the exhaust size I should put behind it? I was thinking 2.5? I am also tossing around the idea of either droping in a 13BT if no modifications would have to be done to fit my truck with factory 5 speed, or DIY turbo with a 13BT exhaust manifold, or just keeping with the type setup I have now of 3b with headers and putting a bigger exhaust system on it? Decisions, decisions????

paper filter from wix....

Headers and a bigger exhaust ain't going to do much for a 3B. Best bet is a turbo and be done with it. 5 speed would be nice but a tad larger rubber will give you the poor mans overdrive.

3bt manifold and turbo with a 2 1/2-3 exhaust routed inside the frame is what I have going in shortly...

I already have the 5 speed in it from factory and plan on 33 x 16 x 9.5 tires, exhaust routed within frame? advantage to that?Rob

There is alot of advantage, i recently crushed my exhaust...but with the stock setup it is about impossible to have the pipe go inside the frame and over the cross member we have for the tranny. What i've done is kept the exhaust were it is but welded a 1"x1"x1/8" angle under the pipe so i don't crush it anymore.

I really don't think it's the crossmember as much as it is the room between the case and the frame father back. At least that's what it is on my 70.

Yeah, if you want to run the pipe over the cross member there ain't enough space between body and TC.

liking it eh?

soon baby soon....

Rob, I thought your 3b was good.... just turbo it. 13b-t in 10 years if yah want.

For airfilter....Napa is fine. They had my 60 series and 80 series ones, never tried for a 40. Go and see. Say FJ40 of BJ42 doesn't show in the books. Maybe they are the same.

My 3B runs now but planning on rebuilding everything ground up starting next year, but was offered a 13BT but really dont know what to do? Rebuild mine, which is my original plan, rebuild with 13BT manifold and do a DIY turbo?, or drop a 13BT in it and keep my original engine crated up?I sure like the idea of a turbo, so I am just tossing all the options around?
