BJ42 buying question
Has anyone bought or know anything about Global Classics Imports LLC? I am looking at a BJ42 that has to be shipped in, it comes with a Ga Registration so it will be legal. What kinds of things should i know and ask about this vehicle?

I used them to import my truck... It was fine using them... great experience. It was a bit freaky wiring thousands of doallrs to a guy I never met, but they gave me three references that I spoke with and then I placed the order. the truck was on the port as promised and I drove it from CA back to CO.
Registartion was a bit funny since GA does not produce a title for old trucks like these. I had John send me some papers confirming it and the CO DMS issued me a title with the frame number as the Vin. Call me if you have any questions! Kraig |

This was my experience as well. I spoke to John a couple weeks back and suggested that he go to the process of getting GA to title the trucks as it will make the buyer's experience with registration much easier. Technically the GA law is that vehicles of this age can be titled *optionally* DMV here gave me some hassle about it, but then the office gave me plates once I showed them the statement that no title was issued in GA. Of course they sent all the paperwork back once the main office got ahold of it with the same complaint, so I have sent them it all back, clearly marked, with a letter of explanation. Should be all good now, but the lack of title does make the process more difficult. All in all, John is a good guy, and took the time to take pics of the worst spots of my truck before I made the decision to buy. Last time I looked it appears that his inventory has expanded some, including some pretty nice looking 42s. I feel I paid a little more than I could have had I been more patient, and certainly paid more than I would have by getting a Canadian truck - but Global is bringing them from OZ, NZ, and I think a couple from Africa, but I could be wrong about that - so rust is MUCH less of an issue. PM me if you want more specific info. |
