Toyota diesels in Hino commercial trucks?

Since most of the Toyota diesels are made by Hino (owned by Toyota), I assume some of the engines share a platform. 2H? 12HT? 1HZ?

Is there anywhere to identify which Hinos carry which engines? Hino parts are a dime-a-dozen in Canada.

I can only speak for a few applications and I do not think a lot of the hino engines cross over to the older Toyota engines, just my 2 cnets.

I can tell you that the H family was used in Toyota Folk Lifts and the comercial division can get any parts for the H series. I also know that the 1HD series is used in several marine applications and many of those parts can be gotten via marine dealers.

They currently only use the 15BT FTE and the 4B .Im guessing the 4B is a 3B on steroids, bigger bore and reinforced engine block.
Im not sure all countries get the Hino Dutro with all the engine options
The 15BT FTE has just been introduced into the new Coaster buses in oz

Hino tend to make bigger trucks than Toyotas and only the 3-4 ton range share motors.

From Wiki Hino Dutro
"Wide range in Japan including Wide Cab, Double Cab, hybrid electric, 4WD, and Route Van. Engine choices are 3.7 liter 4B, 4.1 liter 15B-FTE, 4.0 liter N04C, 4.6 liter S05C, 4.7 liter J05D, 4.8 liter S05D, and 5.3 liter J05C."

I think the Toyota Dyna's at my work have 14B's in them. Does the 14 imply direct injection?

Yes , Im assuming the 4B is a indirect injection. There seems to be no end of variations in the B engine.
In the B and H engines they add a 1 for indirect inj

On the 1HZ and 1HD T they swap the Z for the D for direct injection

Anyone know of a forklift website that caries 2H parts?

I tend to use 4WheelAuto.com and G&S Cruiserparts, but the problem is that sometimes they're stuff is on back order or is not compatable with an Aussie issue 2H, which is sleeved, unlike the N.A. 2H with is not sleeved. Then I resort to calling up an Oz vendor and pay through the nose for shipping.

The early 2H motors had sleeves the later 2h does not. The later motor without sleeves has a stiffer block.

Canada doesn't get any of the Toyota truck range, like Dyna's. We only get Hino. Which the little ones may be rebadged as Hino. So it does make one wonder.

Australian army has started buying Hino 4x4 to replace our 1200 mogs that cost an arm and a leg to maintain.
Now if they could just get rid of the Landrover 130 as the main lightweight battle vehicle and replace it with a V8 cab chassis cruiser or troopy, life would be sweet

Disregard the bullbar malfunction , we'll get the colour right before the next war

And now our Hino's look more like Sterlings or Internationals.....

The cab overs are done here. http://www.hinocanada.com/index-2.html Same in the USA.

Built in Canada.

2007 or 2006 had the cab over versions. Not sure why they thought they needed to look like the competition, unless of course it is a Sterling with a Hino Badge.

True ,their tiny streets dont have the room. The North American long nose might be there for safety reasons also.

My shop has an old 4 ton Hino and Isuzu tow trucks and if they had a nose on em we wouldn't be able to drive them anywhere but the main roads. The roads and corners are just to tight.
Hino's and the Dyna/Toyoace share the same engines in the smaller trucks with the 4cyl diesels. The older ones all used the B series engines and in the late 90's when the JO engines came out they all used that series too. As for the 6cylinder the older Hino's had a Hino engine and some of the Toyota trucks and buses used the H engines and HZ. Hino also makes up to some big 20L engines for their tractor trailers and dump trucks.

J05 and J08 are the engines used in the 165-358 trucks.

I was in a bus which happened upon a crash many years ago.
A toyota hiace minivan full of school kids and towing a trailer slid wide on an icy corner.
It collided with a mercedes truck and trailer coming the other way.

Luckily enough both had scrubbed off enough speed that no-one was seriously injured or killed, but the three front seat passengers had to be cut from the wreckage.

Offtrack but I had a friend who did a couple of tours in Aghanistan. He says the rifle is ok but a bit lightweight(if you talking about the Steyr)
