Bring Diesel to USA and Canada Petition

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/TOYD4D

Found this web site that has a petition to bring Diesels to North America. Not sure if it will help but can't hurt right?

For all the difference it will make, I signed it. Personally I think that Toyota will continue with the hybrid crap because it sounds good from a "Save the world!" perspective.

I want that 1VD-FTV (4.5L, common-rail, turbo-intercooled diesel engine) with the H150 5-speed manual transmission on the 2008 Tacoma! And with the solid axle up front too! And lockers!

Like they say...every vote counts...except in the presidential election...he he.

Keep up the good work everyone!!! We have had 32 votes since I posted last night!
I just talked to the fellow who started the petition, Jay is very pleased to see others care.
Post it on other Toyota web sites for me if someone would.....and I’ll try to keep it going around as well.
Thanks!

Write your congressman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

North Americans buy and drive the vehicles we have to choose from because of the lobby efforts of the big three auto makers in Detroit.

If the lobbyists don't have a plan that includes diesels, no diesel vehicles will be imported. The American consumer won't be given the chance to purchase such a vehicle.
The lobbyists for the big 3 are that powerful.
That's why Detroit's autos are unsafe, poorly built, and get poor fuel economy.

Write your congressman/woman and ask for more choices that you as the citezens who elected them are asking for. They are supposed to be working for us anyway, aren't they?

BTW--I signed 'cuz I want one too!

You are absolutely right!!! But doesn't one of "the big three" include Chrysler? Or not...Either way they have come out with a cool diesel option and put it in two SUV's...what the heck...jeep first to the States? Well I'm not too mad just that it didn't get put in the TJ first...I think that would be a great option for "Jeep"...however I will still hold out for Toyota no matter what the others have to offer.....it is kind of irresistible though if they put one in the TJ don't you think?

Thank you all for your signatures....we have almost doubled the petition counts since Sunday!!! Great job....it has been working better than I thought!!! Keep it up!

I hate to burst everyone's bubble but the "Big Three" have diesel passenger vehicles outside of North America. We see Ford Ranger pickups and Chevy S10's with turbo-diesels from the factory here in Central America and Jeep has had diesels for years outside of North America as well. The problem is largely due to the idiotic view that many Americans have about diesels that they are noisy, smelly and, thanks to GM and their "diesel 350", unreliable!! There is some reluctance on behalf of the "Big Three" but it's not only them.

I am on at #255. Like cruiser_guy says, only Canada and the US are cutoff from clean and cheap diesel vehicles. Well, I would add Mexico to that. However, they have a much better selection of gasser vehicles than Canada and the US. Here to dreaming...

I disagree about Canada. We can import clean diesel vehicles directly from Japan.

There's a diesel yaris??? With the success of the diesel smart cars up here you would think Toyota would bring some of the diesel yaris's out here!

The Ford Ranger is badged as a Mazda Bravo in oz. No gasser option .Choice of 2 diesels ,take it or leave it.

Actually you are not bursting anyone's bubbles....we already know that the manufactures have better options outside the US...that's why I said "in the USA" Or what ever I said when I was talking about Jeep....we know there out there.....and we just want them here to share the fun and excitement.

And I agree....they scared us into thinking diesels are bad....especially with the Mercedes 80's diesel....I think they allowed them into the US on purpose

If you are talking used than you can do the same into the US. Only in Canada you can import them a few years before they are available to import into the US. I think you understood the intent was N E W diesel trucks and SUVs.
