hard starting HJ60

My HJ60 has become a real bear to cold start. I know that my glowplugs are shot, but I keep the truck in a heated garage. Recently I turned the fuel down to reduce black smoke, could this cause hard starting? What are the most common causes for hard start? Once warmed up it fires right up.

Did you check the Flux Capacitors?

On my BJ60, when the glow plugs were gone it would still have a hard start in cold weather even when it was plugged in. But it would start ok if it was running recently and the motor was still hot. I would try turning the fuel up a bit and see if it makes a difference, if not replace the plugs, or replace them anyway if they are gone.

How bout replacing them plugs? How bout turning that fuel back up. It needs fuel to start... Maybe the colder it is the more fuel is required to compress to kick off?

Fix the glowplugs 1st. Even in warm climates most diesels need a few seconds of glow to start smoothly.

How long since the injectors were done?

I dont think you need to turn the fuel up,just wind up the hand throttle or make some adjustment on the idle at the pump.

If your engine has umpteen thousand klms then the compression maybe dropping off and this will make them hard to start.
