Help me spec/option my LC 100 Diesel
I live in Moscow and I am looking very closely at a new 2006 or 2007 LC 100. It is the base model so it will have the TD 4.2 engine and manual transmission and it starts at $52K US. So the question is what options I should consider that the dealer should install. One I thought of was the dual battery setup but it looks like most diesels here have that option already.
Since I live in an apartment I can not do any of the work so I will have to rely on the dealer. A little background on how I would use the truck. I probably will never take it wheeling unless I go to my friend’s dacha where there is only a dirt road to the house. However, the roads are incredibly bad here and winter is pretty severe. Besides the commute to work, I’ll probably take it for long trips 6-10 hours drive. So, any thoughts??? Adrian __________________ Nada |

I like the heated seats, but I think they only come with the leather option. For the 5 speed auto I will have to go to the next package which costs an additional 25K. I will have to talk to the dealer to see if there is anyway to get the auto tranny by itself. But so far all I've seen is the manual tranny on the base models.

We in Canada wish we could decide such questions but we are not privileged to be able to buy a diesel LandCruiser of any kind new! __________________ '82 BJ60 H55 tranny, AXT turbo 3B diesel, high nickel alloy head, A/C, BDS lift, factory PTO, Aussie rear locker, OEM LSD front, 4:11's, 32's, PERFECT frame! Good point on lockers. I've seen a pic of the left side on the steering wheel but I haven't made out if it is only a center locking selector for manual shift cars. Unfortunately I can't go to the dealer for a couple of weeks because I have to go out of town. I can update you guys then. Anyone have thoughts on the selector? I mean if you lock the center diff from the hi/lo lever, then the rotory selector would have to be for locking diffs front and rear. Thoughts? __________________ Nada |

Found pic
I've found the pic from the left side...and I included a pic of the engine. Brand spanking new for only 52K US. BTW what's with the hubs, they look like locking hubs. That can't be right?

Maybe 105
Interesting.... browsing through the website (in Russian of course), it seems I can opt for the LC 105 series for a couple more thousand. I will have to compare the options on both and see if the heavy duty chassis of the 105 makes sense for urban driving.

Actually I like the 105 for solid axles .. but is my normal preference in my case if I buy one today I thought in a future I can wheel it and gonna be my trail machine ..
But if you gonna buy one for only urban use and city HW driving .. and sale in a few years dosen't make sence buy a 105 .. |

Is it a fact you can't buy TD in the 105s? Because it seems that the ones listed on the website for sale there were a few newer ones listed as having Turbos ('05 and '06). Maybe they were mislabeled. The older ones were listed as non Turbo. If this is the case, I would rather buy a 100 with the TD.
