HDJ81 Diesel Fuel Leak

Wondering if anyone can help. My 81 is leaking fuel, noticeable drip when idling. The leak is occuring near the engine block, just under where the accelator cable is (throttle body?).

I'm wondering if this would be a simple loose screw or worse. I'm on my way to Mexico and it's Christmas. If anyone is interested in helping it would be appreciated, I can post images where the drip is coming from or close to it.

Perhaps it's not even worth worrying about 'til I get home.

cheers,

Greg

Your the only one who can really tell where its coming from.
Ill take some guesses,
fuel line into the injector pump
one of the 6 injector lines where they join the pump
from the pump housing

Wipe it down with a cloth and with a torch watch where its dripping from.

If you were getting air in there it would be running and starting rough so it cant be too serious.
Its no tunusual for these injector pumps to leak if you have been using sulpher free diesel.

first off, have a great Christmas and thanks for responding.

Starts are fine, I pulled out the manual and had a look, I'll get in there with a cloth a torch in the morning a look a bit better into it, I am using Diesel #2 as that's what is available here.

Perhaps conditoner would help?

cheers and thanks,

Greg

Same to you for xmas. I dont know about conditioner, its too late once they leak.
My housing was leaking on a spare pump I have and it cost over $4ooAUD for a complete strip down, new seal kit ,recalibration ,clean and assembly.
It was 4 years since it was used and diesel had dried up inside.

There are a few o rings that can leak and its possible to just replace them

Look for the cheap things like a bad fuel line 1st

Cool Fire

I think looking at diesel with a torch might start a fire. I suggest using a flashlight.
