Adjusting Inj. Pump

I have a 1984 Troopy with a 2H and need to check and see if the inj. pump was turned up by the prior owner. Can somone post a pic of the correct screw to turn the fuel down? I get lots of black smoke when I am getting up to speed or pulling a grade.

that's the screw with the wire through it.
How long has it been since your injectors were rebuilt? There is no point in turning the pump down if the injectors are leaking or have a shitty spray pattern causing it to blow smoke. I would look to the injectors first.

Thanks for the PICS. My 2H has 300,000KM+ on the engine and don't know any history of it..... I should probably start with the INJ. first and then once they are good move to the Pump Adjustment. Thanks for your input...

I'm not sure on the 2h, but I thought they came with a lead seal on the wire from the factory. So if the wire looks like it was cut and adjusted, then the lead would be gone.

Injectors on my 3b really cleaned up the smoke. Not that I had a lot....

I am having the same problem with my 500K HJ60. The motor runs great, but the smoke is unbelievable! Especially once I brought it up to Jackson Hole(7000 FT). I am going to test the spray pattern as suggested in the FSM before forking out the $$$ for new injectors. As it stands now, I won't drive it- the vehical is covered with "Bio-Diesel" stickers and I feel like I am giving the veggie oil guys a bad name!!!

A Denso shop will rebuild your injectors to as new and the pressures and spray patterns will be set to specification. No real for new unless they are virtually destroyed. If the pump has not been rebuilt before it will need it with 500K on it. Does the pump have an altitude compensator on it?

It is supposed to have a allt. compensator, but I have yet to track it down. Currently I doing 4.11s, a locker, and a clutch. Haven't really looked around too much in the engine bay yet. I've only owned the thing for a month.
