German Imported 80 series

Has anyone tried bringing in a LHD 80 from Germany?

I know crushers has a contact over there, but the price was $20,000 k for a truck with 100k+ miles.

Has anyone actively looked at trying to bring in one of these rigs to canada?

Cheers

Why bother - can get a lower km cleaner rig out of japan - unless you are hung up on the RHD thing?

Ishobie... to answer your question... yeah...... looking to import LHD.

This thread is about importing from Germany or Europe, and not looking for opinions on how easy it is to get used to driving RHD compared to LHD. Ive read all these threads before.

I hope to get some input on european LHD 80's.

Cheers, colin

Colin,

I know you are looking for European info. Sorry can't help.

Here is a link for cars here in Panama. Prices in US funds. Getting her out is ease, ports on Pacific and Atlantic ocean.

http://www.autorapido.com/list.php?model_id=11

90% of them are Diesel and driven by soccer moms or suits.

PM if you need further assistance

I too would be very interested to hear if this has been done. But from the lack of response, it looks like "not very often."

45 Kevin (40 and 45 series threads) has looked quite a bit into importing from Germany, he has found that the cost is significantly higher for higher km.
he is still shopping...he wants LHD as well...

For an idea of the prices in Germany, search www.autoscout24.de or www.mobile.de

Norwegians are fond of importing cars from Germany. Have heard that German 80s may be rusty and may be hard driven on the Autobahn (high speeds for long periods). Don't know anything for sure though.

Take a look: http://www.mobile.de/SIDqONhqnZpFRzf...8&doSearch.y=8

There was a guy years ago (Helmut) who was importing super clean BJ42s 60s, he came from Germany and had friends who would find these clean units.

He imported the nicest BJ42 I have ever seen, it now resides on the left coast actually in Victoria.

He is a Jeweler in the Ottawa area, always joked about quiting his biz and moving to the west coast and starting up a cruiser biz. Guess theres a fair bit of money in the jeweler biz, wonder what ever happened to that guy???

I live 2 min. from Germany (in the Netherlands) and they do have nice Landcruisers. It's like in most places: some are nice, some are crap.
And prices vary.
I imported a few Hiluxes and a 4R (which I currently drive). All were super nice and for a good price, it just takes time and luck to find them.
If you need info, let me know.
