Dunno if the 3BII's went FIPG or not. A lot of seals cross up to later models, so if you order from Toy you are getting the latest anyway. Dunno if they improves them over the years.

I don't understand your second question, but will forge on: I used new Toyota cork for the sidecover and pan. I was two for two with new cork gaskets and leaking with synth. Maybe it was my install of the cork...dunno.

Now I would be tempted to us FIPG for the side cover and pan, ala the later model engines.

The price of Esso 0/40 XD Extra at Wallyworld makes it worthwhile with 10,000km drain intervals.

Be cautious using any 30 weight oil in a diesel, especially if it has a turbo; the oil is not up to the temperatures a turbo diesel sees. If you want to use MM oil use a 40 or 50 weight. I'm running 5W50 MMF1 as a winter oil.

the shell rottela T 0/30 is diesel rated oil...i have not seen 5 weight diesel oil either...

so i called the turbo shop here in town, they service the oil fields, aircraft, big rigs and tiny turbos adn i mentioned your concern.

the important aspect of turbo life is maintainence and oil pressure. a turbo is a turbo, the big rigs run this weight in the north and some never shut their engines down.
i asked them about 0/30 specific and they said there is no problem what so ever running this oil.

I found out that Shell also makes a Rotella Synthetic Blend 10W-40. I decided to go with this oil for my winter oil as my truck spends a fair amount if time in the more mild winters (-15ish) but i do come to Edmonton often in the winter (-30) so want to be prepared for colder. I think the 10W40 gives a cood compromise between the two temperatures..

It was $70 for 16L at Daystar Petroleum in Edmonton.
