Unhappy 70 series Starter service in Calgary?

Hi guys... Looks as though I need my starter re-built for my '87 3B. Does anyone know of a good place to take it here in Calgary? I've already tried Wayne, but he's out of town. I'd order a kit and do it myself, but I don't have the time to wait for the kit. Any suggestions? Thanks alot !!

Thanks for the offer.... what is happening is the starter will just spin when cold, and won't engage to turn the engine over. It takes me about 10 - 12 tries and then it starts. Been happening for a week now... does it sound like it might need a re-build? Thanks alot for your time... Stan

Have you check to make sure its not just falling off the engine? Its happened to me a couple times. Otherwise it seems like the bendix need some looking at.

yeah I've looked, and it's right solid on the engine. Would you suggest pulling it off and taking it apart? I just don't want to have it in pieces and not have the parts to fix it. Any suggestions?

I have a complete, working starter that you may borrow while you trouble shoot yours.

That would be much appreciated... Can I offer to buy it from you? I'd feel kinda wierd driving around with other people's parts on my truck... Plus I'm not sure how available the parts I would need are... Would you know of anyone that might happen to have starter parts? Once again, thanks alot...

Oh for fawk's sake. Its not like I'm lending you my underpants!

I'll PM you my number and you can come and pick it up, get yours fixed and bring it back.

In the meantime I'll find the number for Ping and Pong (or Ping and Wang or Pan and Wong or whaterver they call themselves) and you can have them rebuild yours for you. 2 day service usually.

Took my 1HDT starter in to Mac's Electric. Dropped it off at 3 PM today and it will be done for 10 AM tomorrow. $125 for the rebuild.

Can't wait to put it back in the truck.
