SAR looking for snow-wheeling locations

I am organizing a winter 4wd training for the Larimer County Search and Rescue team and I need some advice on where to go.

The training is later this month and I am hoping that some of you will be able to give me an idea on conditions on different trails between now and then.

We're looking for somewhere that is an easier trail for our team members who are unfamiliar with off-highway snow driving but that will still have snow deep enough to really give our team members an idea of how far they can push their vehicle before it gets stuck both with and without chains.

I haven't wheeled in Larimer County long enough to know all the trails which is why I'm asking for input from those of you who have more knowledge than I do.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Logan,

Ballard Road is open all winter as well as Greer up Buckhorn canyon. We may be heading up there sometime this winter, depending on what is going on. You are welcome to join us. Stay tuned.

Snow bustin in Larimer County

I would take a look at 7 mile or Crown Point. We usually run Crown point as our first snow busting trip of the Winter. Later we run 7-Mile as it remains accessable through out the winter. I am not sure how much snow will be up there after this warm spell we're having.
