Fundraiser - Open Water Swimming - 10k
Howdy All!
On Sunday the 12th of August I will swim the length of Horsetooth Reservoir (just to the W of Fort Collins). This will be a 10 kilometer (6.2 miles) swim. Water temps are expected to be 72-74 degrees F. I love swimming, and open water swimming, but this event is a fund raiser for Team Fort Collins. Team Fort Collins is a non-profit that works to prevent drug, alcohol and tobacco abuse among teens. They realize that this message must be present in the community and at home to be successful. This is a great event. I have entered every year since 2001. I have finished every year except 2002 when the water temps were around 60 degrees. Hypothermia took me out before I could finish. We used to fund raise for Wingshadow, a group that took in homeless kids and helped them finish high school, learn life skills, gain employment, etc. Wingshadow folded in early 2006 and now we work with Team Fort Collins. So how do you prevent drug abuse? Take their drugs for yourself?

I did alright. I'm pretty tired today though!
