Christmas Party Committee

It is getting into that time of year again. Please sign up for the Christmas Party Committee. The committee is in charge of finding a location for the Christmas party on the 15th of December. Locations that we have had the party in the past was Bennetts Barbeque and Old Chicago Pizza. Old Chicago was pretty popular. If there is a present excange the committee in charge of it or any games.

Just reply to this thread.

Bennet's on Academy is closed now. Old chicago worked for me, or if we want to do BBQ maybe Famous Daves? Their BBQ is awesome if you haven't tried it. I can help if need be.

Famous dave is great food, but I don't think they have a meeting room.

There is a newer bbq place on Colorado ave called the Firehouse and they have a whole upstairs and I bet they would host us.

I won't be able to make it anyway. I have a class on tuesdays.

Firehouse is a good place to eat. We have one down here in Florida.

It is difficult to get people to show up at restaraunts in the springs. It would be impossible to get them to show up at a place in Florida, no matter how good the food is.

So far, one person on the committee, Luke.

But it does sound as we have a place to check out and see if they have a room available on the 15th. Function rooms fill up pretty quick so we need to start checking.

The Firehouse on West Colorado Ave. seems like it would work nicely for the Christmas party. They specialize in meat with meat and potatoes kind of food. I went there for lunch today with a co-worker. We had the more-meat-than-two-people-can-eat meal. I don't believe that that's how it's listed on the menu but it's a better description than what was on the menu. I think I have meat my monthly dietary allowance for protein and it's only November 2 with Thanksgiving still to come.

I was told that they have a coupon in the paper for 10% off holiday parties if they are booked before November 15. Anyone get the paper?

They have a room upstairs that had seating for 26 when I looked and the proprietor said it can hold 35.

Should I go talk to the manager at Firehouse?

I'm for whatever, kinda liked the buffet style thing at Old Chicago, Might need to see what they have to offer for large groups at Firehouse?

The Firehouse only charges for the food orders. No charge for the room. I didn't check on if they would put out food for a set size group.

If you would, please check to see if they have a sampler buffet for 20 to 30 people. I wasn't at last years party, I was in Spain. I didn't hear about how large the group was last year. The typical party that we have had in the past is in the 20 to 30 people range.

I have a meeting set up with carrie, the manager of the firehouse, set up on wednesday at 4:30. Anyone want to come along? She is going to sample some food and we have to work out a menu for the buffet.

They do what they call "party by the pound" basically they set up meat for sandwiches and some sides. She says typically one pound feeds three people, and they have about 15 different sides to choose from. Things like spare ribs are extra.

Have to go see how things work, and how much per person. Hate to make this decision all by myself, you all saw how bad I messed up the trail schedule this year!

Anyone have any thoughts? Should I book the date?

Might have to drag our treasurer into this, lol.

Book the date.

If we wait for everyone to vote it won't happen.

I vote yes.

Can we get the room, and just order normal off the menu?

I Vote yes on the Firehouse!, and yes i could come and help "sample" some food. if i can sneek out of work, ill be there..

What is the cost for the Per pound buffet? Cost for typical Meal?

Trevor

Luke- you did a great job with the trails! its better to decide, than sit around talking about it, and nothing ends up happening!

Luke and I checked out our options for food at the Firehouse last night.

Option 1: Buffet style for about 20 people will cost $9 per person without the ribs option and $12 per person if we add ribs to the buffet. If we want a desert such as peach cobbler added to the buffet that would be an additional charge. Drinks would be on separtate tabs.

Option 2: Everyone orders off the menu and gets separate tabs. Menu items run $8 to $14 per person.

Luke left a personal check to hold the room for the club.

Option 1 would work best if the club is paying for the food and each person pays for their own drinks.

Food for 20 people is way more food than Luke's family and my family can eat so if it's just going to be us we will order less food. Please post up if you are planning on attending the Colorado Land Cruiser Christmas party on December 15th at The Firehouse.

The Janzen clan will not be attending this year. That is a school night and it's the week of finals so it's not optional for me. I may take the long way to school and peek my head in and say hello but that's about it.

I will be there! love the food.. if we cant get atleast 15 people to commit, i would go with Option 2..

We need a Treasure report to determine if we should have the club put in $$.. lets decide at the meeting!

Pretty sure everything is going toward everyone just ordering on the menu and paying their own tab. (Option 2) The owner of the restaurant says that actually works better for them anyway. Just remember, we have the room starting at 6:30, orders will be taken at 7:30. Kinda works for me that way too, I know my bar tab is always high.

P.S. my wife and I ate dinner the night we talked to the manager, the food was AWESOME!!! and they have four kinds of BBQ sauce that are outstanding!
