There are bypasses for the first part of the trail, and throughout the whole trail there is almost no chance of rolling over, but that mogul hill somewhere after the rock pile is treacherous. It really depends on the day, but not too long ago, I had to pull my winch to get up to the top.....but it was pretty muddy.

I have had to pull a rig with 44's to the top....then saw a guy with 33's make it no problem.

I have never seen anyone with 31's make it without a strap. I've personally witnessed 3 rigs break an axle on this section, all jeeps, 2 dana 30 fronts and a dana 35 rear.

The section I refer to is really the only hard part of the trail, Just have to know your limitations and get pulled up rather than blowing your engine trying to make it to the top.

After that spot.......If there is snow,.......there is an off-camber section that has no sunshine, so the snow seems to always pile up. It can get spooky and usually makes me turn around. We'll never know until we get there

I've got every intention of coming still. The last time I was up there Wayne had no issues in his FJ60 on 32's so I was suprised to hear it was that bad.

My 96' is still on the stock 275/70's but I do have front and rear lockers. From what I've read so far, does the Reynolds' wrap section join up with the Eagle Rock trail higher up? So if it is too itimidating could I take a different route and hike back in to watch the others? My hope is that the running boards get so mashed up and mangled that my wifey agrees that I need to rip them off and put on sliders instead!

HAHAHAHAHA.......He's right, don't listen to us. I haven't had much luck getting Leon to tear his running boards off, might have a new victim. All fun aside, there are plenty of bypasses around Reynold's wrap, you're gonna be fine.

Hey now, I'm trying to get sliders, but likely more bypassing for me next weekend.

Looks to me like it will be ~ 30 deg with 1-2 inches of snow on Saturday for Eagle rock and Renolds wrap. I guess I will throw in the chains but I don't think I will need them.

Since I was way off on the meeting time for the last run, I looked up the posted meeting time for this run. We are meeting at the the South location at 8:30am.

Well, I could only get my shift covered till 1pm so I'll have to make it a half-day. At least I'll get a glimpse of the trail and meet some of you for the first time. See ya in the morning!

We all had a great day. I only did Renolds wrap and bailed to go home. Made it to the field at the beginning of eagle rock by 12:30 I believe. My little 4runner did great, I did not take any bypasses and never needed a strap.

We had a great group today. 12 trucks in all I believe, but not totally sure.

Thanks everyone for a great time.

Yeah, I made it to work on time... but just barely. Did anyone else run into those Texans with the jack-knifed trailer on Old Stage? Right on the steepest part coming down I came around a corner and there was a big red Chevy with a 14' ATV trailer bound up in a V blocking the hill off. They were just staring at each other when I walked up. Finally one said "Well with 4 of us now maybe we can swing it around!" I gently let them know that I would love to help but was running late and needed by. Barely squeezed though after they dissconnected the truck.

My running boards weren't the only victim today. Got down and noticed the pass. side fender flare clips are busted. Anyone know where I can get some replacements. Afraid the wife won't be happy with a flappy fender. Thanks for the spotting guys! Had fun!

Might try that place on fillmore, I think it's called the clip house. 1/2 mile or so east of I-25 on the north side. If not them, its gonna be the dealer. With all that good spotting, you would think we would have stopped you before you hit that rock.

Today really was a lot of fun, good turnout with a good crowd. Hated to have to bolt like that at the end of the run......Always like to hang out and shoot the bull about the day.

Pretty eventful day, learned how to change a valve stem, Finally got to see someone wheel an FJ cruiser, learned why not to run red label BFG crawlers in the snow, and got to use my chains in the rocks! Good day.

Saved the best for last, my damage.
The left front fender was my stupidity not making sure I was on a poser rock, slipped off and wham.
The right rear I pretty much knew I would get, I closed my eyes and prayed that it didn't get the window.

Hoping to get more pics from my good camera tomorrow.

It was great to see the large turnout for this trail run. Eagel Rock turned out to be more challenging than Renolds Wrap due to the very slippery conditions. I put chains on the rear after the struggle to get up one section of Eagle Rock. I had to winch up due to getting turned a little sideways and getting my rear bumper up on a rock so I couldn't back up and no traction to go forward.

Did someone end up with my D ring and tree saver?

Here is a link to the pictures and video I took on the trail.

Eric ended up grabbing the tree saver and shackle. thought about that after I left, wondering if you were going to drive back up there thinking you left them. Maybe you can talk him into bringing them to tuesday's meeting.

I have your tree saver & shackle Chuck - I'll bring em to the meeting on Tuesday, or we'll figure out something if you're not there.

The day ended up a whole lot longer for Justin, Trevor, Ben and I. Ben wrecked the pig on the way down Old Stage - chose the ditch over the cliff, which is probably a good thing. Bent frame, blown tire, FUBAR steering. Everybody is OK, but took a couple of hours to limp it down the mountain to where they could get the trailer up to it. Trever pulling from the front, I chained up again and provided brakes from the rear. I think we got back to the Safeway around 10.

Some pics in a bit, though I don't have any of the later carnage.

Oh, and huge kudos for the 2 guys in the Pathfinder that helped us out on the way down - alerting and/or discouraging traffic, steering the pig with the drag link, giving Justin a ride out to the truck & trailer, etc.
