Phoenix to Florissant?
JUst retired from the Fire Dept. here in Phoenix. Looking to move to the Florissant area. I am married with 3 kids 13, 14 and 16. Any concerns with this area I might have missed before I jump in with both feet? THanks

Florissant is a bit of a drive from the Springs. But people do it all the time. I'm sure the drive is worth it.
Are you sure you aren't gonna miss the heat

Florissant is a beautiful area - be prepared for *alot* of snow in the winter, and a good drive into town. Not sure how the schools are up there for the kids.

Florrisant is about 1.5 hours from CO springs... There is ONE bar/ restaurant in the town, and maybe a gas station or two... a fossil area, and tons of beautiful trees. A radical departure from Pheonix no doubt. I lived in Divide as a kid, and my first girlfriend lived in Florrisant. I turned out okay, so good luck
The schools will be (Woodland Park D12 I believe) which is not bad, not the best, but certainly not the worst in the area. If you like landcruisers, you'll love Florrisant.

LX'nTx'n.. thanks for the reply. THe glorious state of Arizona has denied my move with the kids. THe kids are officially wards of the state (foster kids). WE were trying via attorneys to get a inter-agency agreement but failed. Life sucks sometimes. Will have to wait for my dream move for now... THanks Bob

I live in the springs and go to Florissant all the time. My in-laws live on 69 deerfield circle, just south of the fossil beds. They also have 5 acres about 200 yards from their house I wheel on ALL THE TIME. I LOVE IT UP THERE. And it takes about 50 min to florrisant, another 15 to their place.
Here is a picture (kids running around, sorry) of a trip last summer. Good times. ![]() You will enjoy it. I love it up there, truly.
