Boulder - Carnage/Lefthand/Planecrash May 27

Trip is coming up soon.. The trail leader is Tim, leaving North academy McDonald's at 7:30 am. Some people are heading up the night before for some camping, they need to meet us at the trail head at around 9:30-10, this also goes for anyone in the denver area

The plan is to run Carnage or lefthand, or possibly Plane crash depending upon how crowded the trail is when we get up there!

Where is the trail meeting spot for the North of COS crowd?

I might be there. Is the Carnage trailhead obvious once you turn on FS 286? I haven't run Carnage before and don't want to sit in the wrong place

Pretty much sums it up! Just continue through the shooting area and the trail starts with the big rocks of "Gatekeeper." When you finish and come out of the wash stay to your left. You will come to a junction (5-points). Going East is the way out or you can go west for more entertainment. Going south is a dead end at a mine. If you do go west turn left at the sign at the top of the shelf road, wind your way through the trees after the deep washouts and you should end up going down a narrow and very rocky canyon. This trail is the top of Castle Gulch and it will end up on pavement if you follow it straight down (if you don't you probably will still end up on pavement eventually! ;^) Have fun and since it is the weekend try not to get too mad at the freaking idiots up there!

Yes, those are good directions. Just to make it easy we can meet at the Left Hand Canyon trail head right off Highway 36 at 9:30-10:00am Sunday. From there we can head to the start of Carnage and meet those that camped out the night before. That's a good place to air down and lock hubs.

P.S. - It may be crowded, so be ready to wait in line. More time to check out each others Toys.

Plan to join you guys

From Boulder, so I don't have to go far...

I will meet you at the trailhead at 9:30 to 10:00.

I'm in a white/gold 85 4Runner with an exo cage. My name is Greg.

Never been to the plan crash site though...
