July Run / Meeting

We are planning a run/monthly meeting on July 18th and 19th. We are either going to be doing a run in the Ouray area or Crystal City/Crested Butte area. Let me know what you think. We are going to make it a two day (or a one day if that's all you can do) in the high country. This should be a great time to see the mountain flowers blooming and see the awesome views we call our back yard. This is a great run if you have never been in this part of the world 4X4ing. The trails are mild to difficult . Depending on how many people are interested we will figure out where we are going and what trails based on experiance level. Lets get the planning started!!

I'll be there...sort of.

I am already signed up for the FJ Cruiser Summit in Ouray and it's the same weekend so even though I will be there, I can't attend the BCC gathering. But if the FJS winds down and nothing going on Sunday I will join you.

I would really be torn if you decide to do Crystal City as I did the loop there in my Sportsmobile van a couple of years back. It was damn close to pants soiling in a few places and it would be fun to do it in a much smaller FJC for a comparison.

If only I could clone myself......

Where we going? I think I know, kinda....

So I have been giving this some thought.
With the FJC meet going on in Ouray the trails will be packed. I also just found out that the Jeep Club will be doing a run in the Silverton area.

Soooo with that said I think we should be heading to the Crystal City, Crested Butte area for our run . This should be an awsome time with wonderful views of the flowers blooming so the 's would really enjoy the views here. We can camp up in the Lead King basin area or above Crystal City area. There are alot of great places to camp up here and I am sure we can find a great area to fit everyone.

That said if you can only make this a one day run we can make that happen for you as well. I was able to get both days off so I will be camping this trip for sure. (You know how the best plans go).

Let me know what everyone thinks about this. I would really like to see what everyone thinks.

Don't blame y'all for moving the run but it leaves me out. Hopefully I can get in on the August trip if I am still in the area. Just spent the past weekend up on the Uncomprage Plateau exploring. Boondock camping every where. Ran 2 trails; Far Pond on my mountain bike and Big Creek in the FJC. Neather were difficult but fun. Coming down Far Pond I got behind a 300 head cattle drive. I just eased my way through hoping none of the bulls would like to "try me on". None did, maybe because my fierce golden retriver gave them the eye. Of course my bike looks and smells a lot different now!

Anyway I'd like to check that area out more thoroughly.... maybe next month?

"The Plan"

Ok so after speaking with some of you I have formulated our trip for this coming weekend (18-19).
We are going to meet at the Orchard Mesa City Market parking lot at 9:00am with a departure of 9:15am. We will then be heading to Delta via Hwy 50, then Hwy 133 to PaoniaReservoir. We will then be taking Kebler Pass to Crested Butte where we will do lunch/break for about 1+ hours (we will play this by ear).

From there we will be heading up to Paradise Divide, Schofield Pass and then camp somewhere near Emerald Lake. The next day will take us to Lead King Basin and Crystal City. We then have a couple of option to get home which we can discuss after we meet up.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday morning. If you have any questions please shoot me an e-mail.

BCC run

hey Bill, just had a little time to read the mail. Sounds like you have a good weekend planned. I have a note from the CLC page that Pearl Pass is closed due to a bridge being out - in case you get around in that area. here's the link: http://forum.ih8mud.com/co-colorado-...ss-closed.html

Have fun - I'll be off to Blue Mesa looking for a kokone or 3.

Missed Y'all

Trip report please.

There were at least 4 BCC members or potential new members at the FJ Summit; myself, David, Pamela and Doug (Dagored from Cedar Edge). Pamela had an unfortunate encounter with a motorcycle guy but the rest of us had a great time and no scratches (well maybe some brush scratches).
