Maybe they dropped the taxes on those things on your neck of the woods. Part of the economic stimulus package...

# Who uses smokeless tobacco?

In the United States, the 2000 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, which was conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, reported the following statistics:

*

An estimated 7.6 million Americans age 12 and older (3.4 percent) had used smokeless tobacco in the past month.
*

Smokeless tobacco use was most common among young adults ages 18 to 25.
*

Men were 10 times more likely than women to report using smokeless tobacco (6.5 percent of men age 12 and older compared with 0.5 percent of women).

People in many other countries and regions, including India, parts of Africa, and some Central Asian countries, have a long history of using smokeless tobacco products.

Norway and Sweden are big on it. It's banned in much of Europe due to EU "it's bad for you" Nazi regulations.

Damn this is a GREAT thread...
Im on the "sauce" and SHOULD quit, but my wife would throw me out to live in the cruiser. I tried for 23 hrs and the wife said..."Okay, you need to take a chew or SOMETHING!" I opted for the chew.
Used to chew Kodiak till the prices got so high that it drove me to the Grizzly brand...less than 2 bucks a can, and I actually prefer it over Kodiak now.
ON the up side of chewing, and I dont know if anyone esle has found this, I have never had a cavity since I started chewing at 13 and Im now 34!
Go figure.

Good luck with the progress. Sorry to hear that you had a set back! Ill be watching with interest.

Pressures on!

Chicago

Naw man.... what you do is your business. I'd just ask that you don't talk to me about how awesome your dip was this morning.... it makes me want to put you in a triangle choke and make you tap out.

No it wouldn't.

I've gone a few days without before, and I think it's gonna be awesome when I finally get one, but it never is. If you went and took one now, you would be disappointed.

You could always do like my cousin who has been chewing a pack of Nicorette a day for five years now.

Not really, In an odd way, it kind of makes me feel accountable. I'd feel like a pussy if I had a dip now after talking about quitting in this thread..... and that "pressure" is the reason why I bumped this thread.

Oh, in that case - yeah that dip I had this morning rocked. To be perfectly honest, I don't know if I could ever take a dump again without having a dip. How about how good one is after a big ol' greasy meal? Let's not even talk about lipping one after a few beers.....

I'd like to see the statistics on cancer resulting from dipping. I'll bet it's a helluva lot lower than the rates for smokers of the same length of time.

The statistics don't matter if you are the one without a lower jaw!

I'd rather go all in with my lower jaw than with my lungs.
