Question 'Mud tour guide for Atlanta? - The Incidental Tourist

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I'm going to be on business in Atlanta for a while, and would appreciate advice on the sights to see and places to dine, preferably within easy driving distance of Smyrna.

Also while I'm here in Atlanta, I could use some suggestions for romantic things to do and a good place formal/semi-formal place to get dressed up to dine for a birthday/anniversary celebration over the 1-4 Jul 06 weekend & holiday.

Regards,
Jon

Dude - you really know how to do it up.

Best restaurant I can think of over in that neck of the woods is Canoe. It is still there isn't it (it got flooded out a couple of years ago)?

Where's the "shut the fuck up" app, and why haven't you downloaded it yet?

Two Urban Licks!

we had a layover there on the way to a wedding and ended up getting a recommendation from a guy on the plane. the place was a bit of a scene, but nothing uncomfortable. everyone was friendly and the food was awesome. wine choices were equally good. just hop in a cab or ask anyone - it's fairly popular apparently. i would definitely consider it a great dining out place for a special occassion.

that's all i got. :]

Two Urban Licks is great, but nowhere near Smyrna. Another good place in that area (Smyrna/Vinings) is the River Room. I don't think Ray's on the River is open anymore. Ray opened another restaurant downtown. There are a TON of good restaurants in the ATL - check Zagat's for more.

We dined at Canoe and then a couple days later at Taurus. Both were excellent. Taurus is a great value for the money, though it still isn't cheap. The prime rib at Taurus was arguably the best I have had.

Sadly, I didn't get a chance to try out the chipotle theory.

Thank you for the help and ideas. We had a great weekend.

Jon

Ray's is still open. Another one right down the road is Blue Ridge Grill also check out South City Kitchen off of Atanta Road. There is a ton of restaurants around, even some bars like Padriac's have awesome things like Lobster Nachos.....yummmmmm. If you have any more questions I like right in Smyrna so I know I pretty good deal of things around.
