At 15'50" - The driver/videographer is talking himself down off of the rock:

Just got to the end. Wow! I bet that guy walked away, sat down and meditated for an hour after that.

Wow, I must have missed something when I did it. That dude is breathing HARD. He needs to loose the pansy narrative and throw in some Great White.

Man, I'll never be hardcore enough to drive Lion's Back.

The edited transcript:

"To our viewers at home I hope you never have to do this."

"I deserve the credit."

"You're at high altitude so be careful- breathe deep."

"I still have all my bodily fluids in me."

"This is insane. I'm getting back in the jeep because I'm scared out of my mind."

"I'm gonna have nightmares for the rest of my life...holy crap."

"I even got my locker locked! Holy crap!"

"I am so scared right now people...this is frightening me out of my skull, which is now empty, because if it had something in it, I wouldn't be doing this."

"This is SCAREY! Right now, I've never been so scared in all my 24 years."

"Complete insanity: I've lost my mind."

"I am locking the rear axle, because someone on the forum said to do that when you come down this."

"I will not show this video to my insurance company."

"You can do this Mike, you have balls of steel. And you're stupid"

"I paid $10 to do this!"

"Because if it was a stick I probably wouldn't have even tried this!"

"I am crazy- lock me up. Please."

"God give me grace! Father God- I need your wisdom and your grace and your angels. Because God, I am insane."

been wanting to see this for a long time.

I had stomach cramps just watching this.

Amazing!

OK, let's hear it for real:

Honestly and realistically, what $$ would it take to get you to do this with your rig?

Me, right now, I don't think I'd do it for $10K. Maybe for $50K...

Did it in 1997 for free and passed a vehicle twice that was parked up there.

Sheesh. Lion's back is NOT that big a deal.

I led a mess of Cruisers on Moab Rim Trail last Thursday, and the Rock Dome in the Loop at the end of Moab Rim is actually steeper than anything on Loin's Back. After the last 80 cleared the dome, I told everybody that.

well, the steepness I don't mind. The dropoffs on both sides I do mind! The main issue with the thing for me is that a stupid mistake will cost you your life (or worse) and besides having kids that would hopefully like to have me around, there is also exciting stuff I still need to do before I'm gone...

I was surprised to hear him say that he locked on the way down, though, that doesn't seem like such a great idea...

Honestly, how many accidents on Lion's back have there been in the last few years?

I can think of two: the blazer whose brakes failed, and the 4Runner where alcohol was an issue.

I ran up and down with the rear locked.
What's bad about that?

Geared at 90:1, I had to stay on the gas to get down. The only time I used the brakes, was when I was turning around, on top.

So Lion's back is $10 - what is the cost to get into Hell's Revenge?
Isn't that also $10? (I can't remember what I paid last week.)

I won't pay for either..

There are plenty of places in Moab that are free.

A lot of times being lock on a steep down hill is smart and safer....if your difs are locked you can not lock up a single wheel and you have better brake control due to all wheels tied together.
