Rear license plate relocator frame for 80

I'm getting tired of posting and not selling stuff.

Here are three used rear license plate relocator frame (I just made up the name ).

I think Cdan and Beo have them and did have a thread showing their installation long time ago.

If you have a tire carrier in the back, you might be interested. But I'm sure you can live w/o it.

I'm going to ask $75 plus shipping.

They all have the bulbs and the necessary wire(s) to light up the plate and are in similar condition.

Let me know if you want to talk me down from it.

Thanks for looking!

Bump for a great price on a really nice JDM mod. I love mine and paid a lot more than Mot is asking. Installation is 1/2 or easier. In fact, I don't remember much about the installation. Might have been because I sat in a lawn chair drinking Dan's Keystone while he did all the work.

Pics are on my ROTW thread.

ok Mot, throw one in with the oem side mirrors and the crash bar unless it sends my shipping bill into the stratosphere.

They are indeed made of genuine OEM plastic. One other thing... if you have the Slee rear bumper, your Hi-Lift will not fit in the standard mounting location. There isn't enough clearance for the license bracket.

That's not a big deal because you really need to buy one of the Outback aluminum racks and mount the Hi-Lift on the rack.

Do they go right or left or is it universal?

Only on the left. Look closely and you'll see the back of the bracket is shaped to the curve (indentation) of the tailgate.

I think it was intentional on Christo's part. He knew it would get in the way. Just his sneaky way of selling more racks.

semlin,

Cool!
These pretty light (OEM plastic ), so it should not add much to the total tally.

I'll try to add some pics I just took in hopes to give you guys better idea what this looks like:

A word of caution!

All three of the holders are missing one or more of the pictured white tab(?) thingy with black cushion/gasket thingy.

I think I might have seen something similar at the local automotive parts shop. So I'll try to get them. But even if you don't have them, I don't think it's that big of a deal (maybe it is ).

But anyway... I'll let you know my findings.

They look like mounting tabs.

Ben,

The picture looked up-side-down when I took it so I just did "vertical flipping" w/o giving it too much thought.

semlin/Doug,

Those are, indeed, mounting tabs.
I'll try to swing by at the store today and check it out. Don't worry, I won't sell it to you unless you are fully satisfied/prepared.

OK, they do look like standard Toyota body panel mounts. However, the right angle threw me off a bit as did the one with the square piece. Now I realize (I hope) that was just you rotating them to show the piece from all sides.

so this means a bunch of extra holes into the tailgate and making some kind of template first. My hands will be shaking big time between that and the side light.

Come on...it's only a hole.

I have a nice large 3 1/2 inch hole saw left over from a couple weekends ago...you're welcome to borrow it.

Yes, the bracket requires holes. I suppose you could cut off the mounts and stick it on with double-stick tape since it's just made out of official OEM plastic.

You will want to cover up the bare metal from those holes with some touch-up paint.

This was really very easy. Took about 3 Keystones as I recall. The observant among you will notice that's an offical "Toyota" logo ball peen hammer that the parts geek is using to punch the pilot holes. List $325. Your price is $285. It's made of genuine Toyota wood and unobtainium.

Note that the closeup picture Mot posted has the white mounting thingie backwards. The square part goes in the bracket, the "round" part goes into a corresponding round hole drilled into the tailgate. That's probably obvious to most of you but I thought Semlin could use a little extra guidance since his hands are already shaking.

As mentioned in the thread that is linked above, the factory wiring is already behind the access plate in the tailgate. It's plug-n-play like Bill Gates only dreams about. I have more pics if anyone wants them before they start punching holes in the tailgate.

If we get these do we have to dress in drag and pretend to be Beowulf?

How much is shipping something like that to the US?
