Can anyone here read and translate Kanji?

Well at least I think it is Kanji but don’t know for sure. I assume Japanese,

This is on the bottom of the water temp/oil pressure gauge assembly for a 97 LX (same part # 95-97) etched out of the same copper sheet as the circuits.

Just curious what is says?

Wife says it's Chinese. But she can get the general meaning: middle temperature stable.

Well, that is consistent with how the gauge works. The needle pretty much sticks to the middle.

You have to lay it horizontally to read the way it's written.

Well that is interesting, Please tell your wife Thank You : )
I was expecting it to be the name of the manufacturer or something else equally boring. This is a self admission of guilt.

After hearing the translation it kind of makes sense, the rectangle with a line through the middle would be "middle"

The gradations (or cinder blocks?) with radiating lines could be heat or temperature,

So the last two must mean stable? Cant make any sense of those.

Yep, 75* F of temp change without needle movement is defiantly “middle temperature stable”.

Like this? for some reason I thought Asian languages were read top to bottom? Or at least this kind of written language as I understand there are several for each country? shows what I know.

We write top to bottom if it were written/typed that way and left to right if it's done that way, in Japanese anyway. We have hiraganas, on top of the kanji (Chinese characters). But there are far more kanjis that the Chinese use than we use in Japan. Pronunciation is quite different, too.

I don’t know what that last part means………………..but just in case

PS on my last windows Install I included the Asian characters, so stuff like that renders correctly, cool looking but still can't read it.

No worries Raven. It was nothing offensive and not even had anything to do with you (It did cross my mind, however. ).

Let me know if you ever need help with writing anything offensive (or romantic ) in Japanese. I'm your guy.

Last time my wife was at the bank one of the tellers was wearing a big ugly bling chain around her neck and it had the kanji for "cheap" .
My wife just about laughed in her face

Hey mot, one question, what is the symbol for not or “no longer” or “no more”?

Or in other words how would I make it say "no longer middle temperature stable" besides drawing a line through it.

Raven,

This is moot since it was over three years ago when you posted it (I SWEAR I didn't see your last post!) , but fwiw it would reas something like:

中温不安定 (Mid. temp. unstable), but that might not be exactly what you want it to say.

Merry Christmas!

Hopefully it's better late than never.... or it's the thought that counts!

Thanks Mot,

I was kinda thinking of coming up with a way of marking modified gauges, hoping I could sharpy something to the beginning or end, cannot really add anything in the middle as it is already part of the copper trace layer of the PCB.

Can't you just slap a label on it with the correct characters/description?

Like I said though "unstable" might not be the exact description though. It's more like "no longer stable", correct?

If that's the case, then it would be hard to do with just an additional character or two in Japanese.

注:中温安定ではありません。

Should work OK... or just put next to it!
