Just north of Coeur d'Alene, in Rathdrum, ID is a place called Landcruisers Unlimited. Dave Graham does awesome work if you're willing to come this far (approx 180 miles). If not, he may be able to recommend someone over there. (208) 267-2607. He does anything and everything you want and he's easy to work with......won't hose you. I'm not affiliated with him, but he's done all the work on my FJ40......SOA w/cut and turn, SR, 350 conversion with SM465 trans, etc.........body off right now waiting on Gozzard fiberglass tub....

If you cant do the work yourself with a FSM, you should go to these guys;

-Toyotas Only-
128 S 5th St W
Missoula, MT 59801 - 2714
(406) 327-0014

I have had some work done by them on both my FJ60 and FZJ80 when I couldnt get to things due to time or lack of tools etc. They are really nice, knowledgeable and will take you and show you exactly why something needs to be fixed if you ask. Very honest I'd say. Stay away from some of the "Foriegn Specialty" shops in the area as they are spendy.

Stay away from the shop on 3rd St.- They looked at my 40 before I bought it and gave me an estimate of $2400 to get it in running condition....

Have been driving it now since Oct. Changed the fluids and some other minor work but still running strong!

In my opinion, they are crooks....don't know of any others!

Mike's offroad in Bozeman does great work. top noch and Mike is a hell of a nice guy, will work with you and your budet no mark up on parts, so he doesn't care if you source parts your self but he will recomend manufacturers. He is also the only ARB certified installer in MT or at least he was there may be more now.

I have heard good things about Toyota's Only as well, but have never used them myself. There are always a couple of 80's in their lot, it seems. I drive by there every day.

Yeah, there was a 95' FZJ80 in there this summer having a headgasket done ...... @ 300K! Guy inside told me the owner bought the thing new and beats the snot out of it day in and day out and its needed little more the routine maintence. It was lifted, ARB etc and for sure showed signs of being USED! Made me happy to have mine. A few of the guys at the shop are into 1st Generation 4-Runners as they are cheap and do well in the hills stock.

Side note ..... were you ever at the Lochsa Lodge before it burned down? Way cooler then the new one IMHO. Had a buddy who worked there, I was up twice a week from Missoula to sip beers at night and play by day.

Was there a few times before it burned. That happened about a year after I started rafting up there. The new lodge is nice, but the old one was a classic. At least you can still get a Lochsa burger. I drive by there just about every weekend this time of year. I'll be going by again on saturday. Gotta hit the lochsa while it's running.

Back on topic, sort of, you always see the 4 runners out in front of the place. Snorkels and lifts, with lots of trail bruises. Looks like they have a good time.
