Luminox watches
Ok, so like someone deleted that watch thread that was going 'round a few months back.
Who here owns a Luminox watch and out of those that do, who has had issues with it?
In carrying on with Junkesque karma, I have gone through 2 of these fuckless pieces of shit in just the last 3 months (maybe 2 mos). I know some of ya'll like LandPimp can be hard on their shit like this and they probably haven't had any issues, so wassup wit dis?
Those that have 'em:
A. What model?
B. Have you had problems?

No experience w/em, but I do remember the thread, and found it unusual that so many had a Tag Heuer Professional Series like mine.....
4 years and haven't even had to change the battery, wear it 24/7, am hard on stuff, only had to change 1 pin in one side of the band....
Seems many have had it for 10yrs.....

So Junk:
Was it the "special forces/navy seal" that sold you?
Seriously now, I have heard nothing but bad things from people that have owned them. If you want a watch at a decent price go to Costco and get the Swiss Military watches they carry. You cannot beat Costco return policy and the product is top notch. The illumination of the face is fantastic if you charge it up in the evening it will last 6 hours or so. Only problem is the crystal, scratches easy.
I would also push you in the direction of a Tag Heuer.
p.s.
also searched and where the f is that thread?

As far as the Navy SEAL thing, I got issued a Casio G shock, and an Ironman Triathalon. I did own a Luminox about 8-10 years ago, only issue I can remember is after swimming with it alot, it got condensation inside, I think I just eventually trashed it, it was a cheap watch.

Surfing like a maniac and hammering watches diving and surfing in NorCal shorebreak, I have learned a lot about watches. The Casio G shock is good. Shark watches are cheap and take brutal beatings and keep working. Seiko and Citizen dive watches do well also. My Tag has taken pretty good hammering too. Luminox? No spank you...

I got 2 of them, I wear only one(the Stealth, got it for $120 on Orvis) and have worn it daily for 3-4 years, NO issues beside goinig thru 2 bands.
Junk I don't think the thread was deleted, I have had problems finding posts of mine I KNOW are here, now they just don't show up for some reason.

I have had an Ultimate Field Watch for 3 years with no issues, other than that the leather band rotted off after two years. I love the illumination. The only problem with this design is that the day of the month requires adjusting for some months, since it is mechanical and only goes up to 30.

I have one in my collection too. It's been ok, last time I replaced the battery I had the seal checked and it's shot, so more swimming with it. I now think it's a POS. I'm a Rolex fan, but my second favorite has got to me Omega or a good old Seiko.

Dude, didn't the guy on the street corner give you a warantee?
I've had tons of watches, all different makes, they've all crapped out after a couple of years (or sooner). I think I'm just hard on them (maybe I've got some sort of negative energy field emanating from my body? ). Maybe it's just NJ living. Maybe it's just you.
My wife once bought me a nice Seiko, it died after 1.5 years. Turns out she got it at Century21, so maybe it was grey market/defective, who knows. Seiko wanted $$$ to fix it, I told them to fawk themselves.
My current watch, a cheapie Swatch, actually lasted the longest--four years running, with two on the shelf (went without a watch that long--I was never far from a a clock).

Luminox
I have got one of the 3402 stealth watches...it has been great. Only thing is not long after I got it the black on the band wore off on a few links (it has an anodized type finish on it called PVD...i think.). Other than that I have not had any problems and have enjoyed it...Yet the finish wearing off did piss me off at first.

My wife went through 2 Tag Heuers, one just died and had issues, (Costco returned 2 yrs later) then replaced with a higher model and that thing died the first weekend we had it, it went back, no more Tag Heuers!
Best watches I've had (though haven't had alot) were a Casio G-shock digital and a Guess watch. I know Guess doesn't make their own, and are cheapies, but like 5 yrs and it was going strong. Interesting only Fossil (I think) has a 5-yr warranty on their watches, longer than anybody, even longer than the $$$$ watches. A buddy has an Omega Seamaster, been a good watch up until this year, now it's jacked, won't turn the dial, nothing. With no money, and in school now, the watch sits in his drawer...for what it'll cost for Omega to even look at it he could buy a perfectly good watch...

Don't have a Luminox, but have a Nautica now, it's not the best.
Hope that helps...

Wenger Swiss Army
I have had three of these. They suck and suck and suck. Their service has been fast but the damn things always leak. I never take mine off. The one on my arm right now has condensation in it. They sent me two last time if you can believe that. This one has made it a year and is now leaking. I had two Seikos and never a problem. I will say the band on these Wengers absolutely rules. I will never buy a Swiss Army again. i have had a Luminox and it leaked too. My grandpa had a Seiko and he died in 83. I have it and wear it when all my others are broken. Never leaks, never does anything except look a little dated. i refuse to wear a digital watch but they typically hold up very well in comparison as there are no moving parts like a winder type thing to seal.

I've been wearing a Luminox for eight years now--24/7. It's the blue-face Navy Seals watch and I've never had a lick of trouble with it. I had to change the battery a year ago which means I got right at 7 years of use on the original battery. It started to sweep in five-second increments and I knew then it needed to be changed out. I love the tritium lighting and have no issues with the watch whatsoever. I am a scuba diver and have had the watch down to 90 feet numerous times and have had not difficulty with condensation and the like. I put a better band on it a few years back.
I've worn this watch so long that the numbers on the bezel ring have completely worn off but that's not been a problem for me. I bought the watch at a police supply place here in Houston and got a good price for it. At the time, the lure was the tritium lighting and the waterproof rating. I got what I have paid for.
Hey Junk, your Momma says it looks sexy on me.

Two words - Tag Heuer. I've had the same one on my wrist for 10 years (only one battery change) and it's still like new. Pretty much indestructable.

I've had a number of expensive watches, and none of them add up to my Casio G Shock. Close second was my Shark Watch, but that was years ago, don't know what the quality is like now. The G Shock was a gift from my girlfriend (now wife), about 5 years ago. This thing has held up like a goddamn champion. I'm hard on watches, too. I've had "good" (expensive) watches give out on me after a couple of days. My Wenger Swiss Army lasted about 2 weeks. Tag lasted a couple of months, liked the styling but broke it while surfing. When I break a watch, I always get super pissed. People always ask, "Why don't you take off the watch when you work/go surfing/take a shower/etc.?"
WHAT'S THE POINT OF OWNING A WATCH IF YOU CAN'T WEAR IT ALL THE TIME?!?!
When this G-Shock dies, I'll just get another G-Shock. Nothing works like something that works.

Oh yeah...almost forgot. Had the Luminox Diver. Liked the styling, etc., but broke the band climbing a rock face on a beach a couple of weeks after I got it as a gift. Sat in an ashtray next to the bed for a month or two before it stopped. Decided to get it fixed. Thought it needed a band and a battery. Watch repair guy told me not to bother--the battery was fine, the watch was crap.

Wow, am I glad I read this thread. My wife and I were going to get some watches for our 15th aniversary, and I was thinking about getting some of the Luminox titanium watches which aren't exactly cheap. My friend had the same Lum. Ser. 1 watch and had it for years with no problems. It was about 3yrs old and hadn't even used up a battery yet. Most of my watches are some that caught my eye at a pawn shop, that were really cheap. I've got some Swiss Army watches that I wear regularly and besides new batteries, and the band pins keep breaking so I make my own pins now they've been fine. I've never had a high dollar watch. I alway's wanted a Tag but don't want to spend that much yet for a timepiece. ..My wife gave me a Casio G-shock for me right after we got married, almost 15yrs ago. I used for years doing plumbing work, jack hammering, construction and finally lost it. Just had to put one battery in it during that time. My brother still has his Casio watch he got in 79 or 80, stainless steel case, and alarm. He still wears it every day. He's replaced many bands and batteries and say's he'll get another one when this one finally quits. He called me the other day and said he found my watch, so I went by his house. I didn't remember leaving one there. It was my old Casio G shock, and I had left it in the yard when I was fixing his sprinkler system. It had been in the yard for over three years and was still working. I was so excited until I saw he had hit it with his lawn mower. It is cracked almost in half, but still works so now it's in my consol in my Cruiser if I need a back up quick watch. Maybe my wife and I should splurge and get matching G-shocks, and spend the rest on a vacation.
