| Golden Retriever with no love I just brought home a big male golden retriever. we have a small female golden retriever that is in heat. we want them to get together so the female can have puppies. she is old enough and is ready, but she just isn't in the mood. one of the reasons is that the male is VERY ready and VERY big, and our female isn't either one right now. every time the male gets close he starts getting excited, and wants to jump on. the female starts growling and shows her teeth. the male dog is a very nice dog, but just seems very big and scary to the female like he is going to harm her in some way. Any dog experts out there that might have some advice as to how we can get this acomplished? |

| Dude, how would you feel if you came home and someone forced a 250 lb woman on YOU?
At least let them get to know each other. Aquainting them BEFORE she went into heat should have been a priority if you wanted 'smoothness' of operation.

| This, my friends, is a backyard breeder.
Anywho, when she gets ready, you'll be surprised and alarmed at just how much of a slut she will be. Right now she is just playing hard to get. |

| Ideally, you would want the two to have a couple of days to get used to one another. The female will not "stand" for the male until she is ready. You can expect some aggressive type "posturing" from one or both of them at first.
You have brought a strange dog onto "her turf" and she is likely upset about that. If she has never been bred before then you might expect a little difficulty "getting the two togther".
Be sure to feed and water them in seperate areas and don't allow the male to approach any "sacred" areas of hers (dog house, porch, food bowls, people she's bonded with) because she might choose to defend these.
Thank God they are not "pitbulls"......we don't want to get that (backyard) thing going again.

| This is not the first time we have bread golden retrievers. we are on our 4th time breeding these animals, but this by far is a little bit harder than the first 3 we did. we have had the male over at the house for two, almost 3 days now, and even though the female is getting used to him, she still isnt accepting anything. |

| Maybe she doesn't want to do it with you watching. I know I still get uncomfortable when my parents watch my wife and me scrogging.
just kidding. |
