| Is it New Zealand lamb?
My daughter's school had a "food festival" on Monday--she and her 31 other second graders all made dishes. Since it kicked off at 9:00 am, I decided to check it out before heading off to work. At first, I wasn't going to eat, but the chicken biryani looked so good, I thought I'd have a taste, so I grabbed a plate and got on line. Well, it's like being in a room with 32 mothers-in-law: you take one serving, the next person says "here, try my pork grillo" or "how about some Friday night chicken with rice?" or "do you want some fruit stollen?" And of course, if you refuse, you feel like a schmuck. I had fondu, bigos, turkish salad, roast pork, cranberry relish, banana pudding, pecan pie, etc., etc.,--not one but two huge heaping plates full of this stuff, all at 9:00 in the morning. It ALL tasted fantastic, an no, I didn't get sick.
I've been eating like a pig ever since--I think it flipped a switch in my head.

I like to make a paste of olive oil, garlic, rosemary and thyme and slather it on the lamb and grill.

| I used to go to Costco to get hotdogs for lunch. I would bet my friends that if we kept count, more than 60% of the people checking out in the time we ate lunch would be either fat or obese. They would always take the bet. I won everytime.

| I worked the big rest & food show in Chicago one year. Try giving away free microbrewed beer! We had to narrow it down to 15 minutes every hour or there was a constant 50 person line up! All the vendors around us were happy as we were stuck in a corner with no traffic! At one point we were drawing more people than the budweiser booth. They had 10 people we had two guys and a chick! By the end of the 5 days I was burnt out.
I agree on your everyone is fat comment though! I tried to wander around one day and get some samples and it was all deep fried this/that Yuck! I didn't mind the free coke booth though!

Nothing really turns me off, just grewup vegetarian and never had any real desire to eat alot of meat, have tried almost everything, but my 'comfort' food happens to be vegetarian stuff...lobster almost turns me off, but I love watching people cook with them, hack them apart live...good stuff!!
Iron Chef is fun to watch..

I was a vegetarian for a couple years--lamb is what lured me back to the dark side. Usually, garlic, olive oil, rosemary, thyme, black pepper, sea salt, and onto the grill or into the broiler. I made chops with madeira sauce once, that was pretty good. Lamb sausage with lentils was a big hit our last dinner party--looked like crap, but everyone went back for thirds.
Wash it down with a nice zinfandel--boo-yah!

And now that I think about it, considering your location, I'd say if you deep fried them, you'd have a real winner.

| In my freshman college dorm, every room had to do at least one Sunday night "study break" for the entire hall. Snacks for 32 hungry pigs, on a college kid's budget.
To show our displeasure, in addition to the usual snack foods, we had a bowl of dog treats that looked remarkably like "Combos" (those cheese-filled things). We put a big sign on them saying "Don't eat these, they are dog food."
Well, you know what happened. It was funny--half the people didn't believe the sign at first, and some even went back for a second taste. One guy who agreed they were dog food even ate another one.

| PRESS RELEASE
Wal-Mart announced that they will soon be offering customers a new discount item: Wal-Mart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery of California, to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-5 range.
Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but "there is a market for cheap wine," said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing. She said: "But the right name is important." Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart brand. The top surveyed names in order of popularity are:
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. Grape Expectations
And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine:
1. Nasti Spumante
The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel). |
