A family member is involved with the education department on base. One of the wounded ran to theater where he happened to be and told him of the shooting.

12 dead including shooter. 31 Wounded.

They are turning away blood donors at Scott and White Hospital.

WASHINGTON — Federal law enforcement officials say the suspected Fort Hood, Texas, shooter had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The officials say the postings appeared to have been made by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was killed during the shooting incident that left least 11 others dead and 31 wounded. The officials say they are still trying to confirm that he was the author. They say an official investigation was not opened.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

Fox's coverage was it's usual shit. This guy is a mass murderer, I don't see him fitting the domestic terrorist criteria especially since I was just sent to an FBI school for terrorism. He had alot of mental issues apparently and snapped, he wasn't making a statement, his sorry ass just didn't want to go overseas.

With what little that has come forward, I feel safe in assuming (I know, I know) that it will be revealed he was taunted...and that he did not support the war. I would not be surprised if it comes out that he did post some pretty wild views on the internet.

Apparently there is no agreed upon definition of the word terrorism, thus, even though so far it does not cross the line from what we know in my mind, it could easily be described that by others.

There are avenues he could have explored for conscientious objection. Not wanting to go overseas, I'd suspect, had little to do with it. I doubt highly that a dishonorable discharge was any hindrance to this crazy fuck. It's a lot more likely that this dude snapped for other reasons...one of which involved a woman...and likely a woman who didn't like him back. Look at the vast majority of men who go postal. That is the way I believe it will be proven, of course I have been wrong before.

I did spend 10 years in counter-terrorism and have a masters degree from the Joint Military Intelligence College, but hey, you guys surely know more than I in this case.

And raydouble...it is not the ONE thing that makes me say this is a terrorist act, it is a combination of the list.

if you listened to any of the profiles on him by people who worked with him, he fit the angry, lonely, disgruntled employee to a T, it was all about him which negates the terrorist angle. The stupidity of it is that he wasn't gonna do anything but hospital work over there, wasn't like he was gonna be shooting at bad guys.
