Holly shit I have met with some of the guys from fort Hood I hope they are OK. I am in Camp Blanding FL another training camp I guess they are doing the same type of training.

news out of dc said malick was from Fairfax VA. there is a muslim school in Fairfax that has filed a law suit because the county refused to give them a permit to enlarge. the reason was suspect curriculum. apparently they were teaching the kids how to make bombs.

they mentioned nothing about the muslim school when mentioning him the school just has been in the news. but it was on fox 5 and nbc 4

About 9-10 years for the rank and file, give or take a year or two, Doctors and Lawyers are a little different.

18 months as a second lieutenant

Two or two and a half years as first lieutenant

5 - 7 years as captain

so about 10 years.

Faster for a doctor.

Not a short answer question for a medical corps officer.

Entering with a medical degree but no residency training, you'd be an instant O-3, or Captain (in the Army or USAF).

If you enter after having completed a residency and are board eligible or board certified, you'd enter as an O-4, or Major.

If you're board certified in a scarce specialty area such as neurosurgery, it's not inconceivable that you could enter as an O-5, or Lieutenant Colonel.

The shooter was a psychiatrist. If he entered directly from med school as an O-3 and completed a residency at military hospitals, he'd have probably made O-4 upon completion of the residency, or after 4 years. If he entered service as a board certified psychiatrist, he probably came in as an O-4 or Major.

I think terrorism has a political point to make, or at least is has an intent of coersion. I guess that until we know what that point or direction is, if ever, it's mass murder.

He graduated the USAS medical school in 2001, then did internship, residency, fellowship. I am guessing he was a year give or take into "practice."
