Shameless App Plug for woodworkers and Iphones

So my first Iphone App has been approved and is now available for download on Itunes.

The app is called I.D. Wood and is a reference app for the identification of lumber/wood.

Please pass the name along to all your techie iphone/ipod friends. Glowing reviews, outstanding ratings and other comments are most appreciated and will be rewarded with the best of karma!

Please feel free to pm or post with any comments on my shameless plug!

Cheers!

Tried to include morning wood but Apple did not approve. Funny how many people have asked th same question though....I would have thought morning wood was easy to identify....hmmm.

The cost is $2.99 but that is about 10% of the cost of most books covering the same material. I may have a few codes available to download I.D. Wood free for anyone willing to write a nice review of the app....pm if interested.

I am interested! How many types of wood does the app. reference? How much info is included for each type of wood?

Seems like a good app. idea, I'll check it out.

x2.

Does the info include things like specific gravity? A reference guide that included relative weights would be a godsend for someone like me.

Does the database also list exotics?

Does it cross-reference by native vs. common vs. industry names (ie Philippine Mahogany aka Red Lauan aka Shorea, or Jatoba aka Brazilian Cherry aka Guapinol), etc.?

Yeah, I'm interested. And $3.00 for an app that might potentially prevent me from ordering the wrong wood is money very, very well spent.

Thanks. Info includes multiple names, descriptions, wood working potential, common uses, origins, sustainability, a wood term glossary and other stuff.

No specific gravity at the moment but I will look into adding in the future. The app does include native, common and botanical names and fifty wood samples at the moment. Another ten will be added in a future update within the next week.

Appreciate all the help.

I.D. Wood is currently ranked 24th out of 2900+ reference apps. Great karma to anyone able to help me push this into the top 20 apps by searching for the app reviews and commenting, rating etc.

Much appreciated.....Double Dog Studios - I.D. Wood

Popular Mechanics would be a good place to send a press release.
