VERY DISPLEASED with "PAUL" at SOR.com
(Warning long Rant!!) So after reading several posts on here i decided to order some tuff duck seat covers and seatbelt "strap" pads from SOR for my 94' with leather. I get them 4-5 days after order (Friday evening est) and they look pretty good so off to install them. The seat backs are snug but go on nice and the bottoms go on real easy but there is too much slack in the end and the hold down straps don't even come close to working as there is so much slack in them. so i called SOR and spoke to customer support Kim (i think) she mentioned that they were snug and i should give it some time to for the material to relax. i mentioned they were already loose. she said everyone in the sewing shop had already left and that i should call back 1st thing monday am. I let them set in the cruiser all day sunday in the sun. I went to check them out Sunday when I also noticed that the strap pads were a bit long and my seatbelt would no longer retract all the way and if i made it retract then the belt clip was up inside the pad and i had to fish it out everytine i went to buckle up. the seat bottoms were still way too loose so i took some pictures and emailed them to SOR Sunday evening. Monday morning i give them a call mainly wanting to see if they got the email and pictures. They told me they got alot of email on Mondays and would get to me in a little bit. Then he said wait and came back after a minute and said he didn't get the email but wanted to see the pictures and i should send them again making sure to send it to tech@sor.com I did a little more research on SOR and fitment issues, but didn't really find anything. I did find mention that there were vehicles that were imported and their cloth interior was upgraded to leather. Since i had leather and did not have power seats i wondered if this might be my issue. I sent another email with this information and the pictures then waited a couple hours then called back and spoke to paul again and he mentioned that there were alot of email coming in he didn't see mine and now he mentioned that it might be in his junk email but he didn't have time help me right now cause he had a lot of emails. ( I was just wanting to make sure he got the email and that I wasn't waiting for something was never going to come.) So i told him i would call back if i didn't hear anything from them. By the end of the day I was still kind of put out with Paul’s attidutde towards me and decided that since neither one of the items fit properly, I should really send them back. I spoke to customer support who transferred me over to paul and i told him since I hadn’t heard anything and they didn't fit and would like an RMA to return them. He gave me the rma # and I shipped them back he didn’t mention the email or the picture they wanted to see. So I started doing some more reading trying to identify my interior to see if it was upgraded cloth. Next thing I know I get an email stating they received the items and and will refund the purchase price MINUS a 10% rehandling fee.. (WTF is this all about?) They sell a product, give you the run around and then charge you a rehandling fee because there stuff dosen't fit propperly. "note pictures below" I may be fairly new to cruisers but this not the way to earn future business from a new customer. They can keep the rehandling fee for all i care as I will never purchase another thing from Specter, additionally i will warn others find alternitive sources for their cruiser projects. There are plenty of other suppliers out there so don’t waste your time with spector.
Eric.

that's odd
My camo ones fit pretty good. These pics were taken right after I put them on. I think they are more snug now after a few months.
You definitely must have had factory cloth.

That was the first day they were on. After sitting on them some, and cooking in the heat of my truck, they snugged up.

OEM cloth seat recovered in leather is not the same as OEM leather seat. I hate to side with them, but you've got an oddball truck and they clearly list two different covers, one for leather seats and one for cloth. If your truck was originally cloth, that's the one you probably should have ordered.
Besides, their site lists a 20% restocking fee, be glad if you only got hit for 10%.

that is why i sent the pictures to them to see if they had had this issue before. I figured leather was leather didn't think about the posibility of the seats being that different. I knew the manul seats had a bit more leg room but figuered that was due to the gears and motor of the power seats. Sadly paul just didn't seem to want to help. I would have even paid shipping to see if the cloth covers would fit any better if that was they case. I don't have any way of telling the seats weren't factory leather so when i ordered them i ordered them as leather. Oh well live and learn in the end I just wanted to give a heads up to others to watch sor and do more research then you think is needed when ordering parts. I think I have been spoiled by c-dan cause when you call him you get the right stuff, cause he knows his business.

So on a 80 that has port installed leather is there cloth underneath? Can you cut the leather off and have a perfect cloth seat?

based on what I see in your pics, I'm about 99% sure that you have aftermarket leather seats.

Just for info, if you have leather, but manual seats, then the leather was dealer installed and not factory. All factory leather seats were electric. And yes, the fit will not be the same as already mentioned.

I could tell right away that they were cloth seats, the center armrest is not covered in leather=cloth seats. Plus the manual levers and different hinge covers.

i wish i had learned these interior facts before i placing my order, things might have gone a lot better. maybe the options on seat covers should read manual or power instead of cloth or leather. Oh well if i had only known what questions to ask at the start...
I do ask that the technical info from this thread get added to the 80 tech section, as it may help someone else.

At least it was a cheap lesson learned quickly, fourtrax. Some poor souls drop thousands before they see the light. There ARE some very reputable vendors here, some with superhuman powers, it seems. We read glowing reports of their prowess routinely. Alas, SOR is not among them. I cannot recall the last glowing report regarding SOR.
We SHOULD have a sticky..."SOR complaint thread". It would stretch for pages. and years. The list of dissatisfied customers would closely match the membership of 'Mud.
SOR is, IMNSHO, the vendor of very last resort.
They do have a nice catalog though.

Not to hijack, but I got screwed by SOR once. I ordered a set of OEM take-off 80 rear coils for my 4runner a while back. When I got the invoice is was twice the amount originally quoted. I called them about the price I had been quoted and they said, "that was for one coil". What a joke. Too much hassle to attempt to remedy. You got me once, but never again!

They need to ask you what type seats you have before the funds get sent ...if they did not. Other than that sounds like a lack of comunication.
