Yep, a quote I've read on mud before and agree with: "No car has been underpowered since 1945"
People just drive too fast

wow, talk about contradicting yourself!!
Your response, IMHO, reeks of arrogance.

Fuck yes it is, to me and I prefer not to waste it behind some shithead who is oblivious to the world around him/her.
Since I go out of my way not to waste other people's time, as I said previously, I would expect others to be as curteous, though they are not.
Are you one of those people who rides in the road or drives slow in the fast lane and acts as if it is your god given right to use your time to waste others? Because that is how you come off.

clueless fawks.

they are the same asses that go into the local food joints and try to throw their weight around.
what they don't realise is there is lots of local money floating so arrogance usually results in poorer service. i live in a very laid back community and we all live here cause we like the lack of stress. when the tourasses show up with their "i need it yesterday", "i don't have time to wait" attitudes they will learn to adapt or they move on.
shit for brains.

A few years back a woman driving on Hwy 30 going to Astoria OR was cited for obstructing traffic because she was doing 35 mph on a 55 mph two-lane highway, backing traffic up way behind her. The media widely reported this story. She was whining that she was merely being a cautious driver and didn't deserve the ticket. On the flip side, backing up traffic like that leads to impatient dickwads passing on blind corners and shit as they get angrier and angrier.

so, what are you saying?
basically, she was just fine for being a cautious driver, however, she needs to pull the fuck over and let normal people by.
see, that is the problem with these people, they actually believe they are helping everyone else by being assholes.
oh, btw all you bikers, just had about 30 dickheads blow through a stop sign right in front of me, I almost ran them down and they yelled at me. because I was the one breaking the fucking law, right? pricks.

Skillet, I almost got hit last week on my bike. I stopped next to the guy I was riding with at a stop sign. Signalled that we were turning left. Let the guy that was at the stop sign to our right go (he had right of way.) Then this dick head came up behind us and got into the oncoming lane to turn left and almost took out both of us. We had just passed him going UP a hill and was too busy on his fucking cell to drive. So, remember for all of those stupid cyclist there are many more jackasses in cars. I do not agree with running stop signs on a bike. I demand some respect on my bike and should follow the same rules. If you had hit them, I would not of faulted you

Hey, my boy's mom is a roadbiker, I really don't have anything against them and they have just as much right to the road. However, it is when they turn smug and think they are above the rules of the road (ahem...nikon samurai...ahem), they can blow me.
BTW, the clown on his cell while driving being an asshole should be beaten with a rubber hose and have his phone shoved up his ass.

i can't believe you guys are taking the extreme side of this!!
If you are in the left.... "FAST" lane, and someone behind you is driving faster, no matter if it's 1mph or 1,000,000,000,000 mph faster, you need to GET THE FUCK OVER! You have no right dictating what is safe and what is not safe or how fast drivers behind you need to go. Get to the right and shut the fuck up!
It is you arrogant a-holes that cause the accidents by forcing aggressive driving. Seriously, how hard is it to move your steering wheel 3 inches to the right??
I'm with skillet on this one all the way!

a wife of a good friend died 3 weeks ago riding her bike. she had the right of way and riding straight down the side of the road. a car passed her and immediately turned right in front of her. she had no time to react and hit the car. she died at the scene from her injuries.
some fucktards should be shot in the gut at the scene

a few facts about the Smart car- though I guess it's off topic now-
*it is expensive and other vehicles twice the size(and same price) get better mpgs, more practicality and are safer.
*it has a terrible transmission- even with it's "updated" fix, it's actually worse
*check the latest US crash tests- the Smart will fare horribly in comparison to a "normal" car.
*the Smart has a WORSE rollover rating than a Ford Explorer SUV
*it has horrible crosswind handling
*originally able to park perpendicular to the curb in EU- it's short overall length had a purpose, the lengthend US Smart cannot legally do this and is just styling.
*As a EU city car, where driving through 1,000 yr old carriage streets and massive urban congestion is the norm, it makes some sense. In the USA, where 18 wheelers exist alongside everyone else at 85mph... not so much.
the Smart is an image fad. It won't work except on the coasts as a 'green' trend.
The Toyota IQ will best it and quadruple the Smart sales while offering a safer, more practical city car.

I drive very similarly to you actually, and I ride my bike in a cautious and courteous manner. I drive the speed limit, and on the highway I stay in the right lane unless I'm passing.
Honestly I was trolling you a bit, because I know you better than to think you're like some of the customers I've had working in electronics, but your post really reminded me of the people who come in and demand instant service etc and can't wait for anything... hell 99% of customers can't wait 5 days to get the color camera they really want. [I work part time in electronics as well as EMS]. I guess I just had to vent my anger about them a little bit too
I apologise for being a bit of an ass hole though.

I thought this thread was about arrogant smart car drivers? Not about bike riders who blow through stop signs/lights?

Not a fan of the smart car, but just to note...the left lane is a passing lane...not a driving lane as many seem to think it is. I've been stuck behind many idiots who seem to think they can just stay in the left lane all day at the speed limit...and most of these idiots were not driving smart cars.
I agree with the above comment that while they might be good in Europe that does not mean that they will be good here. On a different note, HERE seems like the only place you can not get a new 70 series, while everyone else around this globe can

Skillet you bastard. Ever since you started this thread Smart Cars have been arriving here in BFE - usually in front of me. A white one stayed at 18-21mph for 3 miles of a 25 zone and now there's a blue one buzzing around the only roundabout in the county. I chased this latter for a lap with the ARB making ground until they nipped out. Was hoping to biff them into the flower beds around the roundabout, but no dice. I don't think it will leave a mark and there are no cameras at this intersection....

Why not? If there are enough drivers going below the speed limit that they're passing folks now and then, why should they feel obliged to pull over in order to allow someone to break the law by passing?
Sure glad I don't live in a place where cars are zooming about at 75+ mph. This strikes me as a dangerous, wasteful and stressful lunacy. I think more Americans ought to visit Third world countries to gain some perspective. There's something to be said for cars, trucks, foot traffic and bikes all sharing the road. They go slow, but have no traffic lights and usually manage to keep in constant motion.

personally, i would rather pull over to the slow lane and let the speeders by... i want them as far away from me and the family as possible. same with drunks, potheads and agressive drivers.
let the cops deal with them, that is THEIR job, not mine.
