1) 3 cans brake cleaner
2) 2-3 tubs of moly grease (I use Mobil 1 for bearings and birfs, but that could be a grave cruiser error
3) 2 rolls of shop paper towels
3.5) section of pipe to separate birf (guess a sledge would work too, never tried that method
4) brass drift
5) cold chisel to help remove cone washers and to help remove seal if needed
6) torque wrench (~30-90 lb ft range)
7) 1/2" to 3/4" adaptor for the wheel bearing lock nut socket
8) snap ring pliers
9) brass or lead hammer
10) pvc pipe or other seal insertion tool
11) drain pan for oil and to use when cleaning birfs and wheel bearings if needed
12) various metric sockets, ratchets and wrenches (10, 12, 14, 17 and maybe 19 for the steering arms)
13) fish scale
14) gear lube
15) brake fluid in case we have to pull the caliper, not familiar with the 62, on the runner I modded them so I didn't have to.
16) 10mm flare nut wrench
17) jack and jack stand
18) socket for the drain plug or 10mm allen if you've converted to allen type
19) small flat bladed screwdriver to wedge in slot of cone washers.
I have all of the above, obviously the less tools I have to pack the better, though I don't mind bringing what's needed. Uncle Fred should have a jack and stand I can bring.

The main hassle is finding the hose barb fitting for the axle breather hole. I got a pair of brass 1.8"MPT to 1/4" hose barb at menards. It fit tight in both the axle and IFS differential unit. Some of the holes in the axles are a bit small and a 1/8"MPT fitting won't fit. Technically they are different sizes but they are very close. Reaming out with a pipe thread tap will fix that. Grease the die to captivate the shavings so they don't fall in.
The booty fab method is to tear the cap off the current breather and slip a 3/8" hose over the stub in it and hose clamp it in place. I didn't know that when I did mine or I'd have done it.
The rest is just hose work. Route the hose so it has no pockets where oil can pool. If that happens it can effectively plug in cold weather from oil in the pocket. Stick whatever dust filter you want on the end. A mini fuel filter like the guys used on the sparkplugs would work. I just have the standard breather. I used a 1/4" hose barb to 1/8" FPT adapter to attach it. Also from menards.
I routed my front one to a high spot near the back of the engine compartment. Since I don't have a snorkel or waterproof ignition system I have more important things to worry about if water gets up to it's height.
You may want to breather extend your transfer case and transmission too. Unfortunately on some models this requires drilling a hole.

I don't know if anyone else had a problem but I kept getting a forum database error when I tried to log on directly to the chit-chat page... I had to come on thru ih8mud.com and then click join the forum link. When I tried to go directly to the forums (even from that page) I got the database error message.

There is a Nissan barbed nipple with the correct thread dimensions that screws right in.

it's too warm out today, I should go take advantage of it and do something with the cruisers or sprakplugs.
A ride would be tempting but the roads are wet/snowy/slushy still.

Seriously though, I'm probably done 10 knuckle/birf jobs. It's a good skill to have in case you break a birf one day and I really don't mind doing/showing you how to do it. I like to wrench and teach. I don't have anything planned that day and would probably spend the morning shooting prairie dogs otherwise

Hmmm OK lemme see what on the list GF has, and I'd need to beg borrow steal some jackstands and a floor jack.
the tough part is that I don't get paid til Friday. So I'd have to dig up supplies on that day - cutting it close.
The good news is, I'm furloughed that day (the 6th). So other than an eye appt, I have some free time.

I use John Deere Heavy Duty moly grease in the emerald green colored grease tubes for everything.

On an FJ62 there is a barb fitting in there already from the factory. The factory breathers are rubber hoses 12" long. You just replace them with longer hoses. No hassle.
The transmission vent is already high.
Venting the transfer is impossible without disassembling the transfer. It's something you do as part of a transfer rebuild.

Again, not necessary on an FJ62.

Fresh Baked Bread, Anyone? Gruesome Body Bakery
by Diana Eid
Imagine running up to the bakery around the corner and coming across bread shaped like body parts. Sound yummy? Artist Kittiwat Unarrom creates just that; gruesome works of art out of bread.
Kittiwat Unarrom has a master's degree in fine arts and creates bruised and battered heads, feet and other internal organs at a bread shop in Thailand.
He started using his skills and made sculptures out of bread. This came naturally to him because his family runs a bakery. The bread is made out of dough, raisins, cashews and chocolate. He just adds his own touch to the finished product.
This makes me wonder how long the line wraps around the bakery in order to purchase this finely crafted delicious bread.
I would love to go over to my parent's house with one of these. Carefully setting the concealed bread on the table, I would wait until all of the food was served and innocently ask my mom if she could pass me the bread. Imagine her surprise when she lifts open the cover and comes face to face with one of these gory delights. Okay, so I'd never be invited over to dinner again, but I think the look on her face would be so worth it.
I think this could be an excellent idea for restaurants. They could use one of these heads as a bread bowl and serve spaghetti in it. It would kind of be like eating brains, don't you think?
