I don't think I ever bought meat from them. Mostly the staples. The whole time I lived in MN I was getting my beef, chicken, pig, and turkey from ISU meat labs. I'd tell mom what I wanted and she'd get it for me. I'd then pick it up on the weekend. It was all frozen except stuff like peperoni. ISU Meat Labs retail outlet is only open one day a week and nearly everthing is frozen. Fish I got from Byerlys.

one other reason i want to only heat inside the booth is that i plan to vent the booth straight out the garage door at ground level. that means i can have a down draft booth with no elbows or uptube in the vent tube, which means i have much lower vent fan requirements than a normal set up.
of course this assumes i can properly filter the paint so that i don't overspray our cars
so the garage door will be half open, with a piece of foam backed plywood filling the gap around the vent tube. not conducive to heating the whole garage.

I was just thinking too that heat's not that big a deal if you have a sealed paint booth with negative pressure that is vented with a blower going outside then the rest of your garage has no fumes and you can use any heat source you want to use. I still don't like flame based heat in a garage.
If you build a sealed negative pressure booth you need to have a filtered air input built - just build a frame for a regular furnace filter.
|
negative pressure gets the vapour out but it also means you get dust sucked in through the clean air side so it is not desirable. in a perfect world you want a second slightly larger fan sucking clean air in past an a/c filter or something similar that is finer than the exit furnace filters (which are course enough to catch the paint). I think I am going to pass on the larger fan but I will use a fine filter and I may use a smaller fan.
also these designs aren't really dealing with winter conditions. the garage doors are wide open allowing a ton of ambient ventilation for whatever gets out the booth. i have to be way more careful on adequate venting if i add a heater and a closed garage door to the equation.

The clean air intake side needs filtration is all. You can get some pretty fine furnace filters. I have a HEPA filter on my furnace at camp that cleans out some pretty small stuff.
With your tent plan you would probably have to go positive pressure...fan in and fan out, both filtered...the problem with positive pressure is you get fumes outside the booth and into the garage...although if your door is half open that's not as big a deal...

Working on the plan and the site... I am going to put the back to the wood fence so it can not have windows... was planning on a clear or white shed roof that slants to the back and the fence and would not be seen and windows in the front and at least one end. The other end has to have a hinged door if we are to store the kayaks in it although I am thinking more and more of building it off the ground on piers and storing the kayaks underneath. That would be a lot more functional and give room inside for pottery stuff... lighting and electric will be important so I will prolly use a sub feed box for the demands of the kiln.
Promise not to 'pergolize' it.

Time for garage rearranging, ski tuning, and some sprakplug dismantling. I'm gonna open the engine case on the project rat bike and see if I can get the engine to turn. I sprayed a bunch of Kroil in the sparkplug hole the day it arrived; the sparkplug electrodes had a big ball of corrosion on them - I fear that this engine is seized. The seller said it turned over - he lied or was clueless - you can move the kick starter but you can feel the clutch slip, the engine does not turn over.
