We were skiing in weather like that in beaver creek and it wasn't so bad... wasn't great, but it was tolerable and pretty nice that nobody else was out clogging up the slopes (while I careened down them )
The worst part is the ski lift ride back up

Time flies! I want to make it down to one of the Big Bend trips with you guys in the next couple of years. I just hope I don't get run over by the Boozer Cruiser and wake up looking for some cheap sunglasses. This year we're planning on a trek to the fabled CM09 in the spring, but if gas prices stay low maybe we can sneak in an extra vacation later.

We ski in severe weather all the time, but when you live 2 miles from the ski hill and have a season pass there's no point. The last two runs were a struggle just to get down the hill. The temperature was just right so that the snow was sticky and the wind was going straight up hill so the lift ride was fine but our goggles actually were getting clogged up with snow on the way down and my beard was completely white at the bottom each time with about a half inch layer of packed snow. Plus it hurt.
If I had been by myself I would still be there whooping into the wind on each run. But the dóttirs were done.

As far as I am concerned the worst part of skiing is the tumbling down the mountain that occurs if I am the one on the skis. I only take the gondola up (and now in my old age) and down.

Yes well after my NDE (near death experience) skiing last time I got good at tumbling down the mountain in relative comfort

Not really. It was called for severe weather. It's only Brrrrr, not too bad, but we're having a white out blizzard so visibility is nearly zero and there are 30 mph winds blowing straight up the ski hill. Not good conditions for the first day of practice for kids down to age 7.
The cancellation was at the last minute so we were on the hill when we found out. We skied 4 runs and called it quits because it was painful skiing. We are getting a fucking sweet dump of nice snow though so we're pretty happy.
I took some pics. It was so windy that it blew the snow coming out of the snowmaking gun backwards with the gusts.

I keep forgetting that. 60-90 loonies is only $46-69 per sprakplug in real money. That is dirt cheap.
