I've had to clean a few ARs that had been neglected. They were a fucking mess. I don't like the idea of a gun that shits where it eats after that.
If I had my top choice it would be an HK416, but I can't have one yet.
DD had a couple rifles with POF piston uppers at TUTapIII and HH and I found them to be the nicest shooters of all the ARs there, including the ones with HK416 uppers.

My ideal all-purpose weapon would be the 14.5" HK416 and I think you'd find it more comfortable to shoot than the 10.5" model I've got. But for my work, the 10.5" is the bee's knees. I was VERY pleasantly surprised though, at how much I like that POF M4 upper.

I bet they would eventually find the food. The real problem is the few that did find it quickly will gorge themselves thus leaving less for the others. The ration doesn't have that much extra over the minimum they need.

When my brother wrote home from college and my brother wrote home that he had been invited to a girls house to meet the parents they had stake for dinner.
My father wrote back and wanted to know what kind of wood it was that they had and wondered if money was being pissed away for a college education.
IIRC it was the last time my brother made the mistake except in the letter home where he smarted off that it was Vermont maple and it had kind of a sweet kinda of smoky taste taste.
