We actually used to both wear turbans. I dunno why. That group is comprised of French class geeks and foreign exchange students.

HVAC guy never came, plumber #1 stopped returning my calls.
I went on vacation.
On Saturday, plumber #2 shows up, says it is probably the control panel, and he'd be back Wednesday.
Wednesday comes by, plumber #2 doesn't show, but his HVAC guy does, and he says it might not be the control panel. Mrs. Jman is home dealing with this, so I'm getting it second hand, but it sounds like . . . it needs a new thermocouple.

Okay, tech speak malfunction. Thermocouple is for pilot lights. What was wrong with my furnace was the flame sensor. Essentially same function--shuts off gas if no flame is detected, and a faulty one will repeatedly shut off the gas during normal operation.
So, I was right, it seems.

Yes the flame sensor is actually a thermocouple. Cheap part, quick fix.

The flame sensor is likely a thermocouple. Thermocouple is the proper name.

Previous cabinet level position. He was both an "Assistant to the President" and Secretary of Commerce.

I suppose the flame sensor could also be a thermistor, which is why I wrote the flame sensor is likely a thermocouple.

Though a thermistor probably doesn't have the temperate range a thermocouple does.

Kitchen cleaned up including bleaching everywhere that unsanitary water was... Draino applied and the inspection cap removed and LONG hose run down the sewer line several times completely removing it and putting it back in as far as it would go.
Cleaning the hose and tools was the worst part of the job and now even I smell like Clorox. I did not think I overloaded the washing machine and since it happened to about two weeks ago it was time for the fix. I am running another load of towels to insure that it does not happen again and if it does I am emailing Lup and prolly going to have to call Roto-Rooter.
