That's the one thing I do envy about you who live in FL is the ability to have an awesome fucking garden, one where even my 'chids could be outside for a good part of the year.

There was also 4 of these big containers put into the imu.
They contained about 5 pounds of rice, 5 pounds of sugar, and some water. They become rice pudding. Which I can tell you, freshly made still warm is NOM NOM NOM NOM!!
This pic is the other ingredients being added...1 pound of butter, 3 cans of sweetened, condensed milk. Stir until done!

And last but not least...the little monsters
It was a fun time for all. I guess the owner (or part owner) of the company Derek works for does this every year. All the employees and other friends are invited to bring their turkey and whatever else they want to be put into the imu. Nice tradition to have!

It was one old pan...no wood handles or anything. It came out ok. I think that person has used that before.
It was totally I am glad I got to see it. The stones that are used start out black. You can see how they are white just before the pile-on started. I would be interested to know the temperature in the middle of the pit.

sweet.
we could buy a tree cheaper than the gas/permit to cut one off the mountain, but it wouldn't be the same. Since I've lived here, I've taken advantage of being able to cut our tree from the wild.
I think the permits are $8, or they were last year.

Tree and house decorating requires strong drink. Just opened one of the bottles of Framboise I bought at the New Glarus brewery last weekend.
This is the best framboise I've ever had, better than any real Belgian framboise. Probably because it's fresh. And that New Glarus is an amazingly good brewery, maybe my current favorite, definitely my favorite midwest brewery.
$8.75/bottle though (22 oz). There is a pound of raspberries in each bottle. It's dark red, nearly as dark as red wine. Not sweet, quite tart. NOM!

The bird was all "What the fuck, dude?"
Still had a great time. Steve's a great guy, got his friend who knows the Sanibel area to drive up with his boat (and his daughter) to go to his spots. Weather was awesome. We spent a good deal of time searching for bait fish, had to go to a couple different spots, then hit paydirt.
The bay was kind of wiped out from the dump from Okeechobee, full of pesticides and fertilizers, knocked out the sea grass the past two years. Most of the grass was gone.
