I do have one guy who is nibbling pretty hard on the ST1100 . . . his father has a later ST1300 and he's interested in having a bike where he can do rides with his father and keep up. There's really not too much on the road (twisties or flat) that the ST1100 can't keep up with.

I like the McDonald's "breakfast patties"
they are hashbrowns - they come in very handy as a foundation for a full day of paddling or wheeling (when the excitement otherwise has me hypoglycemic before lunch )

Didn't you just have all the carbs cleaned and adjusted in the spring? It shouldn't be clogging up that easily.

I mean, it's no Hayabusa; however, it's built for long distance endurance high-speed riding and is very comfortable in that mode.

yes, but the sitting in the garage since just before TUTaPII didn't help it any. And even though they synchronized the carbs (supposedly), they never have seemed perfectly balanced. And even after their work, the choke still wasn't doing EXACTLY what it was supposed to do.

In the run-up to IKE, I had parked the ST and was merely starting the bike on occasion. But it needs to be ridden, and hard. That engine is not really happy unless it's turning >4,000rpm and burning down the road at >85mph.

One of the bad things about a 7.4 gallon tank is that unless you ride a lot and for long distances, you don't get the fuel turnover that is really beneficial to the bike.

Sean, I wish that you could just once ride this bike and feel it soaking up the interstate. Even if only on the pillion.

KC-Houston is an easy one day. I could fly there early-ish, be met, do the deal, acquaint with the new steed, and ride, boldly ride.

in my immediate family (3 siblings and mother), there are usually at least half as many conversations going in parallel as there are people, everybody jumps in and out of one stream into the other
it works if you know how it works, but every stranger is horrified at the constant interruptions, switch of topic, and random associations
and my mother can even read the newspaper while participating at the same time
the funniest was always after chirstmas dinner when everyone would take to their new books but also converse at the same time
