So the wife was driving the LX this morning....

...when she had to go visit a client in Downtown LA on Wilshire. No parking on the street so she goes into the parking garage to pay their $20/15 mins ridiculous parking rates. Well when you enter the garage it says 6'8". No problem. We took off the ConFer after SnT so the truck is only 6'3". So she proceeds.

Can't find a spot on the first level, she drives down, past the second level. Past the third level and finally arrives to the 4th level. As she is negotiating a turn she said she heard a horrible noise and then a sound like something banging on the rear hatch.

She gets out and lo and behold! The roof rack was ripped right off the roof. She looks over and see a small sign:

'6'1" Max Headroom'

......hidden by a minivan parked illegally right in front of it.

So anyway, she says that the rack is off and she can't see any scrapping on the roof at all. What I am really worried about is how much damage the nutserts getting pulled out of the roof will actually have. We'll see tonight.

Its not THAT bad but it feels like it. Wilshire has the HIGHEST parking rates in CA, even beating out SF. I know, I've paid the fees.

No. It's like when he said to the judge during jury duty voir dire that he was an equal opportunity racist that hated everybody equally, and that he thought the defendant was already guilty, so he didn't have to serve jury duty. Makes for a better story, but not really true.

Well we contacted the building management...who said tough shit. And she said she took the minivan's license plate and we will see what the insurance company says.

Um first off you got the quote wrong. I said I was NOT a racist, that I hate everyone equally. And the fact that you don't think it happened has little relevance to this thread, this forum, my life. Don't you have an ambulance to go chase?

I sympathize, but the fact is that it was your wife's fault. She should have noticed a difference between 6'8" and 6'1" and proceeded cautiously. As in 1 mph cautious and listened for scraping.

No need to get upset. Almost everybody lies about the facts of a situation to create a better story. I do it sometimes. We already know that you do it.

No big deal.

That is to be determined. It may very well be. I'm sure we will know in a few days.

I agree. It could happen to anyone, but it's just "one of those things." Hopefully no real damage was done.

The rear wheel was stolen off of my bicycle last night, but I'm not blaming the condo association for it.

Lawyers make for better liars. Better than I could ever be. Thus far the stuff going on in my life does not necessitate a lie. Again, your usefulness in this thread has yet to be seen.

That sucks. You need to bite the bullet and get chain or u-lock and lock the front wheel, rear wheel and the frame to something. I bet bikes get stolen all the time at a place like Gainesville.

Um, I'm not doing a whole lot of blaming. I don't even have all the facts. I only have what my wife is telling me. I haven't even seen what happened. Again, the insurance company will decide, not us.

I'm sorry that I made a comment other than one you expected in your "I am whining about my wife's easily-avoided predicament" thread. Lawyers do lie pretty well, generally speaking. That is because they are lied to all the time, so they pick up the way to do it. The secret - and this is really great free advice for the next time you decide to lie for no reason in one of your threads - is to start with something that is untrue, but believable. When you say something that is totally incredible, like you tend to do, it will unravel really quickly, like it always seems to do to you.

I can see why so many people dislike you here. I figured I'd give you the benefit of the doubt being as you were a good ole' boy from Alabama. But the more I read your comments the more I start to understand you. the sadness you feel everyday of your life spills out onto this forum. You have no way to deal with your life and the scum that you have to deal with (or not deal with because you are here so often its tough to see you have much of a case load which of course brings into question your actual ability in your chosen profession).

So you deal with nefarious individuals and you've honed in your skills and can tell that everything I say and do is one big lie. Normally I laugh and shrug it off to your stupidity and need to feel like you want to be involved with my life so you give a crack at stupid comments to feel like you are part of it. My life MUST be more interesting than yours because you seem to comment on it so much more than your own.

I feel for you. I do. One day you will find happiness in your own life instead of living vicariously through others, including myself. Until then enjoy and comment away because it makes you feel better to get the last word in.
