I have always been curious what that costs. A lot of places do that. I didn't. I got hired, then went to the academy. Hampton Roads Regional Academy of Criminal Justice. It was in an old elementary school that had its roof caved in. Nothing but the best for public safety workers.

I just hit up MAF for a couple things. The most expensive of which was the pump bracket for the Saginaw swap on the trail rig. I have been collecting parts for that project for over two years
Last thing I need are the hoses and the pulley for the pump.

It was false advertising from them. They portrayed it like they were actually hiring recruits, similar to other municipalities. They had the full recruitment process going on; test dates, etc. But when I called to find out why I hadn't heard anything further after faxing in my test results, the HR lady said "oh, it's unaffiliated, you can just sign up for the academy in April, pay your way and then try to get hired". I can do that anyway w/out them. There's a part time POST academy thru the local JC and another operated by Sac County Sheriff you can pay your way through.
I need to have some $ coming and health bennies since 3 others depend entirely on me for support. If it was just me I would go for it.

I read one some interweb forum that they think the excess real estate in the Phoenix area will take at least 2 years to sell of to normal inventories
so your prediction is right on

Same thing down here. It is sort of a good/bad thing for us. It prevents us making a quick decision about relocating, which gives us time to plan. Both good and bad.

I'm trying to time the market myself. The other consideration is interest rates. Once the global economy settles out, yields on US gmt debt will need to increase. Good chance this will affect mortgage rates.

I wonder what lenders are going to do with all the inventory they are accumulating involuntarily - I guess prices could fall even lower

Yeh, it was Northern Illinois University. I knew there was tie in to Dekalb
My undergrad teacher had some friends there, so it meant more getting the Miami gig too since he had some pull at Northern Illinois.
that's cool, high school art seems like it would be one of the harder things to teach- students thinking they can take it to goof off, etc.
probably very rewarding when it makes a difference though.
