I tried the close option on the other thread and it looks like it worked.
Not sure if you still need to let Woody know now or not?
it says closed on the top of it.

Mars - old thread: The wood isn't painted, its got a lot of depth of color and grain. The areas that still have the clearcoat on it shine and reflect in the light pretty well. The light stuff you see on the inside that's not exposed to the light...its just filthy. It cleans up.

AND -
I'm having a tuner/piano technician come out this week to look at it. If he likes the look of it, and depending on how much work will be involved to make it play like it should...we might end up refinishing the cabinet. That wood's just too cool. I'd love to see it shine like new. The couple places that still have the clear coat look fantastic.
|
The bottom of the top (unfinished wood) sure looks like pine. I would suspect a veneer for that tiger oak.
Pretty piano. You should check with an expert re: refinishing... many antiques lose value when refinished. I have no idea if patina means anything on a piano.
OR
Go back and read Fred's teakettle in kvetch. Frau Doktor made some good points too.
