Just look for it again. Fer sher it will be some place you already looked. That is how the pile works.
Ever put something in a drawer, go back to get it, open the drawer and it is not there? Open it a few minutes later and it is there. That is how the pile works. It is full of screws, nuts, bolts, washers and tools. Unfortunately, because the pile is so huge, I am certain a few things get buried in it and never make their way out.

|
The league has tried to keep the teams competitive, but it is hard. No doubt, our star is the best player in the league, and we do have one loss--when the star wasn't there. If you move him to another team, then that team becomes unbeatable. Unless you move him to a totally sucky team, which means that, because he's so good, he gets sent to soccer hell.
This league is 7 and 8 year olds. It's a tough age, because at that point some of the kids begin to understand strategy, and they really stand out against the majority, who just sort of kick the ball around.
None of the other coaches are complaining; in fact, they have commented on how well our coach as done in instructing the kids, and have said it's a pleasure to watch them. The coach doing the complaining is my son's assistant coach from last year (the team with the 1-12 record). I didn't think a bad thought about other teams who totally creamed us last year, although I envied some of their talent.
One thing the league could do is change its stupid mercy rules. Last year, if a team was ahead by 6 goals, they were not allowed to play offense. The result? They all hung back on defense! The other team had NO chance of scoring now. This year, if a team has more than a 7 goal advantage at the end of the game, the coach gets fined $50!!! WTF? If keeping the game close is so important, they should do it in a way that keeps it interesting for both sides. Say, if a team gets a five-goal advantage, they need to take out a player; six goals, another player; etc. Eventually, enough players would be taken out so that it would again be a challenge for both sides.
And I agree about the pure defense part. The reason my son is such a good mid-fielder is because most of the time last year he was playing defense. He really got a kick out of taking the ball away and denying the other team. He wanted to play goalie half the time, because that player was always in the action.

Exactly my point about the soccer! The other teams wouldn't be losers if they didn't suck so bad.

I'm sure it will show up.
I was looking for my stapler the other day, and I must have looked right at it and didn't see it.
When I looked the second time it was right where I had already looked
(or, supernatural forces had been using the stapler the first time and were done with it when I looked the second time )

Actually. That is why I have not shaved for so long. My facial hair is very very coarse, flat, kinky and curly. I often suffer from ingrown hairs along my jaw line and just below the edges of my mouth. It is quite painful sometimes. This sounds a little gross but I have to dig them out with tweezers. I have actually pulled ingrown hairs out of my face that were well over two inches long. It feels like having splinters of metal in my face at times.
So there you go. A little something about the life of the Heifer.

in itty bitty soccer, some guy yelled to his son, "don't let a girl beat you"

Here's the thing, though--so far, in this league, no one has a problem with any lop-sidedness except the one coach. I know half the players on the other teams, as well as their families. I was cheering on both sides today, hanging out with the other team's sponsor, whose daughter was playing goalie the second half (and shut my son's team down). The other team's best player is on my son's baseball team, and I gave him and his dad a ride home after the game. For the most part, everyone is happy with the idea that the kids should enjoy themselves, play to the best of their ability, and not worry too much about the score. Which is what we do.

Thursday we got emailed that all the games today would go, rain or shine. At 0800 we get the call that they're cancelled because of the rain.
Coach Tim calls the head of the league and says, "We're playing: the opposing team is on their way and they have to drive an hour to get here."
He says OK, go. Now we gotta get our team to show up...

The other team had NO chance of scoring now. This year, if a team has more than a 7 goad advantage at the end of the game, the coach gets fined $50!!!
He wanted to play goalie half the time, because that player was always in the action.

the mercy rule in our old league involved either adding or subtracting a player with a 3 goal lead and so on as the lead gets bigger. semlinson doesn't have one any more.
if it is just one player i can see the problem. my view is that many leagues have their own agenda and they stack teams on purpose. they know that most kids will drop out of soccer by 12 so they choose to let coaches collect stronger players to try to keep them interested and involved. it happened blatantly in both leagues in cloudtown and it happens here as well. what you end up getting is not necessarily the players with the most talent but the early bloomer kids with the most aggressive competitive parents. i am 100% certain i could do a better job than any of the leagues i have dealt with of creating an atmosphere in which more kids would thrive.
i do have some sympathy for your annoying opponent coach guy. my first year coaching the team i was a late fill in when they got a bunch of late applicants and they just swapped semlinson over from his assigned team and gave me those applicants as an extra team. half the kids were add and none of them except semlinson could play soccer and several had never kicked a ball. they were hardly ever at practice. we didn't win a game all season, or even score in the first five games.
i can also say as a coach it can really suck having the parents chirping about the teams being unfair. the last couple of years i spoke to the parents and kids at the first practice and told them how it would be and that they should be prepared for it.
