[rant] Back on the fruit:

We have been enjoying local Elberta Peaches... although this peach will grow in many of the zones it is only available around here when it is harvested locally. The local harvesting season is about two or three weeks and you cannot buy these in grocery stores... only fruit stands.

I look forward every year to getting them... there is one other local peach (I can't remember the name) that the same deal applies. This fruit is usually more expensive than the commercial varieties available in the supermarket, but they also taste a heck of a lot better. [/rant]

I haven't been on a bike forever I ordered shoes to match my clipless pedals, but I still need pedals on the Super Sport (these pedals were going to be put on it before they crapped out).

Last night I had to go out and have a look at a trailer that had an electrical fault with the electric brakes. Apparently the brakes were locked and I just had free them up and tow this trailer 20km back into town.

I took all my tools out there to fix this electrical problem but when I got there I figured what the electrical problem was.

The U bolts hadn't been done up tight enough and the axle had rotated around when the brakes had been applied, snapping off the leaf spring centre bolt, jamming the tyre into the wheel arch, and wrapping the handbrake cable and brake wires around the axle.

We had to call a tilt tray tow truck to retrieve it.

The trailer wasn't one of ours, it was one of the boss's mates that he was doing a favour for. Good to see the correct information was passed onto us and we wasted an evening doing something the driver of the truck that was towing the trailer could've organised by himself 24hrs earlier on his mobile phone. All as a favour

Man I could get used to this working from home thing. So relaxing, so stress free, so noticeably devoid of airplanes, airports, hotels and rental car agencies...

Ok man I generally take everything you say with a grain of salt, as its just good natured ribbing between friends.

That comment, however, was below the belt

I'm obviously going to need multiple consecutive bong hits to recover my poise and equilibrium.

Yes, my grandfather made the shroud with the propeller. Supposedly it was to keep the spies from seeing that they had a jet under development.

Grandpa used to work for Fisher Body and did custom car interiors for them. Along came the Depression and he was out of work. So he started his own business in the basement of his house and ended up a big military contractor.

He had lost his index finger in WWI and they wanted to give him disability but he refused it. He figured out that he could charge more for gov't contracts by hiring the disabled to run his sewing machines. He had quite a few women who were in wheelchairs or with canes or crutches in his employ. As a kid, I used to hang around his shop in Hicksville because we lived in the Farmhouse on the property where the shop was. The old women used to but me Coca-Colas for a nickel out of the machine.

The machine looked exactly like this:

My brother and I were not tall enough to reach the door to get the sodas and the ladies would lift us up. It became like Pavlov though. Every time the machine clanked, my grandfather would come out of the office to see if my brother or I were bumming sodas. We would get a good scolding and he would take away the coke. I accused him of stealing our cokes (that went over well).
