It isn't the fluid contact I'd be worried about. They also usually have very high pain and damage tolerances. I know from experience that it is possible to ignore quite extreme pain while doing something that needs to be done.

that's part of what I inferred when I said their "high". As in, not they're high, but their high. It makes subduing someone so much more difficult.
