I like it cause it is an old skool race replica not because it is a sedan. If you could get it in a wagon or ute I'd like it even more.

Watching "Dive Bomber" everybody smokes all the time.
Erol Flyn even gave the guy from the plane crash a smoke while he was in the ambulance.
Fred McMurry chain smokes.

So far almost every scene has at least one or two people smoking a cigarette.

Even during the middle of winter here the days are quite warm but the nights have a bit of a chill to them. When you start work early in the morning you have to rug up a bit. The worst it has been this year has been a work shirt, jumper and jacket with some long pants. By the time 8am comes round the jacket is off and by 9am the jumper is off and you are wishing you had worn shorts.

The doctor who ruined his heart doing high altitude research is chain smoking.
He just offered Erol a smoke.

Velokraft NoCom is a partial inspiration for the frame design, but I'd be having a suspension and it being a trike over a two wheeler. Minimal welded or machined stuff. All the welding and machining is limited to making small parts that are bonded into the CF frame, or in the front suspension. The front suspension is modeled after F1 style race cars where they put the shocks in the body and use connecting rods. 5 rods go from the body to each front wheel. 2 each locate the top and bottoms of the kinpins and the fifth goes from the top or bottom of the king pin to an arm hidden in the body and that presses on the airbag. That kingpin to axle bit is the only complex part left in the design. It has the king pins, axle, disc brake mount, and steering control arm. Everything else is cut and drilled plate AL, threaded tube or drilled and threaded bar stock.
|
Ours doesn't have suspension but the frame is chrome moly tube with the main spine having a teardrop cross section.
I designed and built the king pins, axles, steering arms and steering column. The steering arms are 1/2" solid alloy rod drilled and tapped for 1/4" heim joints. They are all RH thread though so it makes it hard to adjust the toe-in fine enough. Murphy's Law says the exact spot is a quarter turn away from the nearest spot.
When I built the stub axles and king pins I made sure all the geometry was spot on. All the Camber, Castor, Toe-in, Ackerman Angles, King Pin Inclination are correct.
With the rules for this race I don't think they are allowed suspension.

I have a huge collection of shims. You coulda picked them up when you dropped off the wood stove.

it takes a lot to make me work a sunday. usually only happens if I've committed a crew to a job and a couple flake out, and I have to take up slack
last time that happened, me and another guy worked 27 extra each on the weekend...
and someone's ass got canned monday morning
hilarity of small town living ensued on that one it was awesome p3wnage
