Greetings, fuckers. A quick post from the hospital wi-fi with the MacBook. Yes, hospital. We're waiting for katie to be discharged. On the weekend, she started feeling a bit ill. No big news there -- it happens a lot these days. (one day, an explanation into that remark will be made)
On monday night, she was thinking it was a UTI, a kidney infection, or worst yet, another stone. Keep in mind, she had a stone a year ago.
yesterday, she was in such writhing pain that her friend Lori drove her to the ER in Madison. I have very few complaints about our HMO as yet, but one of them is a lack of facilities anywhere near Beloit.
I got off wr0k early and went to the hospital. I then drove home to Beloit to grab a few things, let the dog out to take a shit, and then I drove back to Mad.
I wound up sleeping here all night. She's gotten a CT scan, and they've confirmed the existence of another 3mm stone in her left kidney.
Now here's the good part: it is a year, to the day, when she was last hospitalized for a kidney stone. But the even better part, according to the douchebags at UW Hopsital Endocrinology department, there's nothing that peculiar about that. (Like I said, one day I will explain what's been going on the last few months and our travails with various endocrinologists, but you don't want to hear it today, trust me. I don't have time to type it anyway.)
So yeah, sometime, last (rachel just called -- she's in Milwaukee Early) night, Greg and Chris made it to Beloit and are holed up there. Chris asked me for a place to get a car repair done, so I hope that works out.
I'm going to be bringing Katie home soon. Someone's gonna have to leave to pick up rachel. Maybe by the time I get home, Chris will have his truck fixed, then we can go into downtown MKE to the butcher shop to pick up the TUTap meat, meet up with Greg and Rachel, and then head up.
Yesterday for my last day at wr0k for a week, I wrote a 3000 line SQL script that didn't work, and on Monday servers were crashing all over the place.
Yes Sean, it's gonna be a long fucking day. Just another in a long fucking week. But soon, we'll all be at Witch Lake, and with a little luck, we'll all get the chance to unwind a bit.
Out for now, fuckers. Later.
I hope Katie gets well soon Fredfucker

This is really bothering me. Why the fuck am I eating oranges from half way around the world when I live in the second largest orange producing country in the world? Not only that I live within a few hours drive of the largest orange producing area in that country.
I can almost hear the black helicopters, there is something not right here.
Same deal works for us.
We live near one of the great orange producing areas of the world... but production has been decreasing and when you go to the market to buy oranges the grocer is going to put on the shelf what he can get cheapest. It might not be like the hippie food store where Fred worked where they put only the best things on the shelf.
We have oranges from all over the world, including those thick skinned smoked orange skinned monstrosities from Kalifornia. It kills me to see seedless red grapes that cost as much as meat (by the pound) that have leather skins and bitter innards that come all the way from South America.
Local fruit is best but you often have to go to where it is that they sell it and if it is winter, you are SOL.
Oh, and Mr. Orange Farmer... would you like to sell your grove? I have a retirement community planned and we will pay top dollar for your acreage.
And for instance: Disney World is about 47 square miles... You could raise a lot of oranges or cows on that size piece of property not including all the other land that was lost to development to support or feed off the giant theme park.
We have been enjoying local Elberta Peaches... although this peach will grow in many of the zones it is only available around here when it is harvested locally. The local harvesting season is about two or three weeks and you cannot buy these in grocery stores... only fruit stands.
I look forward every year to getting them... there is one other local peach (I can't remember the name) that the same deal applies. This fruit is usually more expensive than the commercial varieties available in the supermarket, but they also taste a heck of a lot better. [/rant]
BTW - pedals in a box looked like crap... waiting for a salvage bike... I hope you are not coasting and pushing with your feet.
I haven't been on a bike forever I ordered shoes to match my clipless pedals, but I still need pedals on the Super Sport (these pedals were going to be put on it before they crapped out).

"We drew our heavy revolvers- all at once there were revolvers in the dream- and joyously put the Gods to death." --Jorge Luis Borges from Ragnarök.
Last night I had to go out and have a look at a trailer that had an electrical fault with the electric brakes. Apparently the brakes were locked and I just had free them up and tow this trailer 20km back into town.
I took all my tools out there to fix this electrical problem but when I got there I figured what the electrical problem was.
The U bolts hadn't been done up tight enough and the axle had rotated around when the brakes had been applied, snapping off the leaf spring centre bolt, jamming the tyre into the wheel arch, and wrapping the handbrake cable and brake wires around the axle.
We had to call a tilt tray tow truck to retrieve it.
The trailer wasn't one of ours, it was one of the boss's mates that he was doing a favour for. Good to see the correct information was passed onto us and we wasted an evening doing something the driver of the truck that was towing the trailer could've organised by himself 24hrs earlier on his mobile phone. All as a favour
